Metallics SCU0075 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size conduit does the Metallics SCU0075 universal strut clamp hold?
The SCU0075 is the 3/4 inch size in the Metallics universal strut clamp line. It clamps 3/4 inch conduit to strut channel. For other trade sizes you need the matching clamp from the same series rather than forcing this one onto a different diameter.
2) Will the Metallics SCU0075 strut clamp work on standard 1-5/8 inch strut channel?
Yes. It is a universal strut clamp, meaning it drops into the open face of standard 1-5/8 inch strut channel and is tightened down to trap the conduit against the channel. No separate channel nut and threaded rod assembly is needed to hold the pipe.
3) What does the EG in Metallics SCU0075 mean, and where can it be used?
EG is electrogalvanized, a zinc plated steel finish. That is a dry indoor finish, fine for interior mechanical rooms, ceilings and plenum runs on strut. For exterior, damp or corrosive locations spec a hot dip galvanized or stainless strut clamp instead.
4) Should I use a strut clamp like the SCU0075 or a one hole conduit strap?
Use the SCU0075 when the run is supported on strut channel, such as a trapeze or wall mounted strut rack with multiple parallel conduits. A one hole or two hole strap is for fastening conduit directly to a wall, deck or structural surface. If there is no strut in the support, the clamp has nothing to seat into.
5) What part number do I order for the Metallics 3/4 inch universal strut clamp?
Order Metallics SCU0075. That is the single catalog number covering the 3/4 inch electrogalvanized universal strut clamp, with no separate finish or size suffix to specify.
