4) Is this 3M heat shrink sleeve flame retardant?
No. The ITCSN-1100 is a non-flame-retardant cross-linked polyolefin. If your spec or inspector calls for a flame retardant sleeve inside a building or in a plenum, this isn't the one. It's built for mechanical and environmental protection, abrasion, corrosion, and chemicals, in buried and outdoor work.
5) What temperature range can these buried splice sleeves take once installed?
Installed operating range is -67 F to 230 F (-55 C to 110 C at the top end), which covers outdoor conduit, buried duct, and unconditioned equipment rooms. Tensile strength is 2400 psi, so the wall holds up to backfill and pulling stress.
6) Is 9 inches of sleeve enough to cover my splice?
Each piece is 9 inches long (228.6 mm), so you need your connector plus enough overlap onto the jacket at both ends for the adhesive to seal. Rule of thumb on a buried secondary splice is at least an inch of clean, abraded jacket under each end. A compression connector on 4/0 typically leaves you plenty inside 9 inches; a long inline butt splice may not, and you'd step up to a longer ITCSN piece.
