Viega 84315 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Viega 84315 elbow have threaded ends or press ends?
Both ends are press, listed as P1 x P2. There is no thread on this elbow, so you cannot thread a nipple or a valve directly into it. If you need to transition to a threaded connection, you need a separate MegaPress press-by-FPT or press-by-MPT adapter in 1 inch.
2) What does Smart Connect technology do on a MegaPress elbow?
Smart Connect is the feature built into the sealing element of the 84315 that intentionally leaks a small amount at an unpressed connection during pressure testing. That lets you find a joint you missed before the system is charged and covered up, which matters on a large commercial run with dozens of presses.
