The Viega 92525 is a P x MPT elbow: one end is a 1/2 inch PureFlow press connection for PEX tubing, the other is a 3/4 inch male pipe thread. So it takes 1/2 inch PEX on the press side and threads into a 3/4 inch female NPT port, valve, or threaded fitting on the other. If you need PEX on both ends, this is the wrong fitting, you want a press x press elbow.
2) Do I need a crimp tool or a press tool for the Viega 92525 PureFlow fitting?
This is a PureFlow Press fitting, so it is pressed, not crimped. You need a Viega press tool with the correct PEX press jaw for 1/2 inch. Copper crimp rings and a crimp tool will not make this joint, and neither will a cinch clamp tool.

5) Can I thread the 3/4 inch end of this Viega elbow straight into a brass valve?
Yes, the 3/4 inch end is a male pipe thread and will thread into any 3/4 inch female NPT port, including brass stop valves, manifolds, and tank fittings. Use a thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for potable water on the threads. The press side stays dry and unsealed, the seal there is made by the press.
