American Standard M919213-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is a shower slide bar the same thing as a grab bar?
No, and this is worth getting right before install. The American Standard M919213 is a 24 inch slide bar for adjusting handshower height. It is a bath accessory, not a load-rated grab bar, and it should not be specified where someone will pull their weight on it. For that you need a grab bar rated for it.
2) What is the American Standard M919213 slide bar used for?
It's a 24 inch shower slide bar, the wall-mounted rail a handshower rides on so the spray height can be adjusted. American Standard lists it for shower and tub applications, so it works in a standalone shower or over a tub with a handshower setup.
3) What finishes does the American Standard 24 inch slide bar come in?
Two: polished chrome, ordered as M919213-0020A, and brushed nickel, ordered as M919213-2950A. Match the finish to the handshower and tub or shower trim already on the wall, since the bar sits directly beside them.
4) Will a 24 inch slide bar work over a bathtub?
Yes, the application covers both shower and tub. A 24 inch length is the common size for tub-shower combinations, where the bar mounts on the back or end wall and gives enough travel to move the handshower between a standing height and a lower height for bathing or rinsing a tub.
