American Standard Standard 24-Inch Shower Slide Bar - AMS-1660225

The shower holder slides to any height along the bar and locks there, and it also pivots, angling up to 45 degrees. That means one bar works for a tall adult and a seated user without swapping parts, which is why these get specified in multi-family and remodel work.

The 1660225 is the bar and the adjustable holder. A handshower and hose are ordered separately, so budget for those plus any supply elbow or drop ell your wall connection needs to finish the job.

Four finishes: Chrome (1660225.002), Brushed Nickel (1660225.295), Matte Black (1660225.243), and Brushed Cool Sunrise (1660225.GN0). If you're standardizing bathrooms across a property, order by that suffix, it's the only thing that changes between them.

It's an American Standard residential slide bar, positioned in their luxury bath line. For single-family, condo, and apartment bathrooms it's the right call. For high-abuse commercial washrooms or anywhere a grab-bar load might be applied, specify hardware rated for that duty instead, a slide bar is not a grab bar.

Yes. A 24-inch bar mounts vertically on the wall well inside a standard 60-inch alcove, and it's the common length when you want adjustment range without running the bar the full height of the surround. Set the lower bracket high enough that the holder at its lowest point still clears the tub deck.

Plan on new holes. Slide bar bracket spacing varies by manufacturer and model, and there's no guarantee the 1660225 brackets land on the previous unit's centers. On tile, that means the old holes need to be filled and sealed, which is the part that catches people out mid-job.

It's light, about 1.323 lb, so the mounting brackets are carrying almost nothing on their own. Where it matters is in the pull a user puts on the bar when reaching for the handshower. Into tile over studs, hit framing or add blocking at the bracket locations; into tile over backer with no stud, use toggle-type anchors rated well above the static weight.
