American Standard 445008.02 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the 445008 Edgemere sink come with the pedestal leg?
No. Model 445008 is the lavatory top only, in white. The matching Edgemere pedestal column is a separate order, so budget for both pieces when you're specifying the complete fixture.
2) How big is the bowl on the Edgemere pedestal lavatory?
Bowl measures 17-1/8 inches (435 mm) wide, 12 inches (305 mm) front to back, and 5-1/4 inches (133 mm) deep. The top itself carries a faucet, soap and accessory ledge with a fair amount of shelf area, which is what most people are checking when there's no vanity deck to set anything on.
3) Is the Edgemere pedestal sink a comfort height fixture?
Yes, it's built to American Standard's Right Height for greater comfort in use, which puts the rim higher than a traditional lavatory. Worth knowing on multi-family and senior housing jobs where rim height gets specified.
4) Does the 445008 sink have an overflow, and where is it?
Yes, there's a rear overflow on the bowl. That matters for drain selection: pair it with a pop-up or grid drain built for an overflow lavatory, not a no-overflow style drain.
5) Do I need to buy mounting hardware for the Edgemere pedestal sink top?
No, the top ships with a mounting kit. You'll still need blocking in the wall to land the anchors, plus the faucet, drain and supply stops, none of which come with the lavatory.
6) What is the Edgemere lavatory top made of, and will it hold up in a rental or hotel bathroom?
It's fine fireclay, a dense vitreous body that takes hard cleaning and heavy daily traffic better than a cultured marble or composite top. That's why it shows up in hospitality and multi-family work where the fixture gets used constantly.
