The S11571 is built for 5 and 6 inch square recessed housings. The trim measures 6.77 inches square with a 3.38 inch overall height, so the body has to clear that depth inside the can. On a 5 inch can the 6.77 inch face gives you plenty of ceiling overlap, and on a 6 inch square can it still covers the opening.
2) Can I set the color temperature on the Satco Starfish S11571 downlight, or is it fixed?
Color temperature is adjustable from 2000K to 5000K, and it is also full RGB. It is a Starfish IoT fixture, so the tuning is done through the app or a compatible control rather than a switch on the trim. Wattage is fixed at 13W.
3) Is this Satco square retrofit downlight safe over a shower or in a covered porch ceiling?
It carries a wet location rating, so it can go in a shower or tub ceiling and in covered exterior soffits. Note that Satco still classes the fixture itself as indoor, so the wet rating is about moisture exposure in an enclosed or covered ceiling, not open weather. It is cETLus listed.
4) Do I need to rewire anything, or does this screw into the existing socket?
