TOTO TBG11001U#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the TOTO GF wall mount tub spout thread onto my existing 1/2 inch pipe stub?
The GF wall spout connects with a 1/2 inch NPT connection, so it threads onto a standard 1/2 inch NPT nipple coming out of the wall. If the rough-in behind your tile is copper or PEX with no threaded nipple, you will need to adapt to 1/2 NPT male before the spout can go on. Nothing about the valve body changes this, the spout is a threaded slip-on-free connection.
2) Is the TOTO GF tub spout a diverter spout for a shower, or just a filler?
It is a plain wall mount filler spout, no diverter. If your tub has a showerhead above it, the diverting has to happen at the valve, a three-way or tub/shower valve trim. Ordering this one for a tub/shower combo with a two-handle valve that expects a pull-up diverter spout will leave you with no way to send water up.
3) Can I mount the TOTO GF spout on a deck or tub rim instead of the wall?
No. It is a wall mount spout with a single 1/2 NPT inlet at the back, so it needs a threaded nipple coming horizontally out of the finished wall. A deck mount installation needs a deck spout with its own shank and mounting hardware, which is a different part entirely.
4) Does the TOTO GF tub spout meet ADA requirements?
No, the GF wall spout is not ADA compliant. For an accessible unit in a healthcare, education, or government facility, the spout itself is rarely the controlling element, but if your spec sheet calls for ADA compliant fittings throughout, this one will not satisfy that line item.
5) How far does the TOTO GF tub spout stick out from the wall?
The GF spout measures 7.4375 inches in length and 2.375 inches in width. That length is what determines whether the stream clears your tub rim, so measure from the finished wall to the inside edge of the tub before you commit. It weighs 1.9 pounds, which matters on a stud-backed nipple more than on a solid block.
6) Is the TOTO GF tub spout brass or plated plastic?
Solid brass. For a multi-family or hospitality retrofit where spouts get grabbed and leaned on, that is the difference between a part that survives the tenancy and a zinc or plastic body that cracks at the nipple. The laminar flow gives an even, non-aerated stream rather than a splashing one.
