1) Will the Accentra YA190 indicator kit fit my Yale 8800 mortise lock?
The YA190 indicator kit is built for Yale 8800 Series mortise locks with sectional (rose) trim, and this version comes with the cylinder prep for keyed functions. It works with functions 8811-2, 8814, 8814-2, 8815, 8818-2, 8822, 8832, 8840, 8847, 8860, 8860-2, 8861 and 8867. If your 8800 has escutcheon trim rather than sectional trim, this is not the right kit. The lock itself and the cylinder are not part of the kit.
2) Do I need one kit or two to get an indicator on both sides of the door?
Each YA190 kit covers one side of the door only. It ships as a single side indicator plate with mechanism, screw pack, plastic template and instructions. If you want status visible from both the corridor and the room, order two kits, one for each side.
3) Does the YA190 indicator kit work on a 1-3/4 inch door?
Yes. The standard YA190 kit is built for 1-3/4 inch (44mm) doors, which is the usual commercial thickness. Thicker doors need a different kit, which Accentra makes available on request.
4) What indicator wording and colors can I get on the Accentra YA190?
Six outside indicator codes: V10 Unlocked/Locked in green/red, V20 Vacant/Occupied in green/red, V30 icons only in green/red, V40 Unlocked/Locked in white/red, V50 Vacant/Occupied in white/red, and V60 icons only in white/red. Classroom and meeting room doors usually get the Locked/Unlocked wording; restrooms and privacy or nursing rooms usually get Vacant/Occupied. Icons only is the pick when you need language-neutral signage.
5) Do I have to replace the whole mortise lock to add an occupancy indicator?
No. The YA190 is a retrofit upgrade kit for an existing Yale 8800 sectional trim lock, so you keep the lock body and add the indicator plate and mechanism on the trim. That is a lower cost route to privacy and status indication than swapping the lockset. Cylinders are ordered separately, and the cylinder prep is already in this version of the kit.
6) I ordered the wrong hand for my door. Can the YA190 indicator be reversed in the field?
Handing is field adjustable on the YA190. It ships set to right hand and can be reversed on site for a left hand opening, so a mis-specified hand does not mean a return. Both Left-Handed and Right-Handed are orderable if you want it set correctly out of the box.
7) Is the YA190 indicator rated for a school or hospital corridor door?
It is ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 certified, the heavy duty commercial level, and Accentra lists classroom doors, patient rooms, nursing and new mother rooms, restrooms and meeting rooms as its typical applications. Grade 1 is what most institutional specs call for on high traffic openings.
8) Can I match the YA190 indicator trim to the finishes already on my building's doors?
Fourteen finishes are offered: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 611 bright bronze, 612 satin bronze, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze equivalent, 618 bright nickel, 619 satin nickel, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, 629 bright stainless, 630 satin stainless, 693 black painted, plus black and white suede powder coat. Base metal follows the finish: brass, bronze or stainless steel. 626 and 630 are the two that most commonly match existing Yale 8800 trim in commercial buildings.
9) Can staff read the YA190 indicator from down the hall or at an angle?
The window uses a patented curved design with a 180 degree viewing angle, so status reads from the side as well as straight on, and the panel carries a reflective coating for low light.
