1) Will the Accentra YA192 indicator kit work on my Yale 8800 mortise lock?
The YA192 indicator kit is built for Yale 8800 Series mortise locks with sectional (rose) trim, and specifically for the 8808, 8808-2 and 8809 functions. If your 8800 lock is one of those functions and wears sectional trim rather than escutcheon trim, this kit retrofits it. The kit also carries a prep for a standard mortise cylinder, so it suits keyed access on those functions.
2) Do I need one YA192 kit or two to get an indicator on both sides of the door?
One kit covers one face of the door. Each YA192 kit contains a single side indicator plate with mechanism, a screw pack, a plastic template and instructions. If the room needs status shown from the corridor and from inside, order two kits, one per side. Locks and cylinders are not included in either case.
3) Does the YA192 indicator fit a 1-3/4 inch door?
Yes. The YA192 kit is standard for 1-3/4 inch (44mm) doors, which is the usual commercial door thickness. Kits for thicker doors are available on request.
4) Do I have to order the YA192 indicator kit by handing, or can I flip it in the field?
Handing is an order choice, left-hand or right-hand, but it is not a trap. The indicator ships right hand and is field reversible, so a kit can be adjusted on site to suit the door you are actually standing at. Useful when a punch list turns up an opening handed the other way.
5) What do the V01, V03, V04 and V06 inside indicator codes on the Accentra YA192 mean?
They set what the window actually shows on the room side. V01 and V04 read Unlocked/Locked in white and red text. V03 and V06 use icons only with no wording, V03 in green and red, V06 in white and red. Pick text where staff need it spelled out, icons where the door serves a mixed-language or multilingual population, or where a green/red read carries further down a corridor.
6) Do I need to replace the whole lock to add a locked/unlocked indicator to a classroom door?
No, and that is the point of the YA192. It is a retrofit kit for an existing Yale 8800 sectional trim lock in the 8808, 8808-2 or 8809 functions, so you keep the lock body and change the trim side to a plate with a status window. Full lock replacement is only needed if the existing lock is not an 8800 sectional trim in one of those functions.
7) Does the YA192 indicator kit include a mortise cylinder?
No cylinder and no lock come with the kit. The plate is prepped for a standard mortise cylinder, so on a keyed function you supply the cylinder in your own keyway and keying. Order the cylinder alongside the kit so the door is not sitting open waiting on it.
8) Is this indicator kit for sectional trim or escutcheon trim on the 8800 lock?
Sectional trim only. The YA192 is engineered for Yale's sectional (rose) trim, where the knob or lever rose and the cylinder sit as separate pieces. If your 8800 lock has a single long escutcheon plate covering both, this kit is the wrong part and you need the escutcheon version of the indicator instead.
9) What is the EMA / EMB engraving option on the YA192 indicator kit?
