Installation & Operation

  1. Review manufacturer specifications and verify door preparation requirements including door thickness, stile width clearances of 1-11/16" on one side and 1" on the other side of cylinder center.
  2. Use manufacturer-provided templates to mark mounting hole locations accurately on door surfaces for the 1" x 6" x 2-5/8" case dimensions.
  3. Prepare door by drilling required holes and routing as specified in manufacturer instructions for proper case installation.
  4. Install the deadlock case and secure all mounting hardware per manufacturer torque specifications.
  5. Install mortise cylinders (available separately) and connect bolt rods with threaded 1/4" - 20 connections to door-specific bolt guides and strikes.

1) Will the Adams Rite 1875 deadlock work on a narrow stile aluminum door?
That's what the 1875 is built for. The case measures 1 x 6 x 2-5/8 inches, and the door prep needs 1-11/16 inches of clearance on one side of cylinder center and 1 inch on the other. Measure your stile against those two clearances before you cut. Hollow metal and wood door versions are offered as well, so the same two-point lock covers openings beyond aluminum.
2) Does the Adams Rite 1875 come with a cylinder, and what cylinder do I need to order?
No cylinder ships with it. The 1875 takes a standard 1 inch mortise cylinder with the Adams Rite MS cam, ordered separately. 3) How does a two-point deadlock secure a roll-up door compared to a single deadbolt?
A two-point lock throws bolts at two separate points on the door instead of one.
