The Adams Rite MS+1893 Series MS Deadlock/Deadlatch provides maximum security deadlock protection for after-hours security with deadlatch convenience during business hours. This body-only unit features a 5/8" x 1-3/8" deadlock bolt with 13/16" throw and accepts standard 1" length, 1-5/32" diameter mortise cylinders. The case measures 1" x 7-3/8" with steel construction and corrosion-resistant plating for commercial applications.

Installation & Operation

1. Review manufacturer specifications and verify door preparation requirements including door thickness (standard 1-3/4") and selected backset dimension.
2. Use manufacturer-provided templates to mark mounting hole locations accurately on door surfaces for the selected backset configuration.
3. Prepare door by drilling required holes and routing as specified in manufacturer instructions for the case dimensions and bolt locations.
4. Install the deadlock/deadlatch body into the prepared door pocket and secure with provided mounting hardware per manufacturer specifications.
5. Install mortise cylinder (available separately) and verify proper engagement with the MS cam mechanism for both deadlock and latchbolt operation.
6. Test device operation through full 360° deadlock cycle and additional 120° latchbolt retraction to verify proper function and make final adjustments as needed. Refer to manufacturer documentation for complete installation details and troubleshooting.

The MS+1893 provides three distinct modes of door control for maximum operational flexibility: both lock and latchbolts retracted for unrestricted entry during business hours, handle-operated latch for exit-only traffic after closing, and maximum security MS hookbolt for overnight lockup. When using trim (available separately), handle or paddle operates latchbolt only for controlled access management.
