1) Will the Aiphone AX-DV door station work with my existing intercom system, or does it need the AX central control unit?
The AX-DV is a component of the Aiphone AX Series open voice color video entry system and connects back to the AX central control unit. It is not a standalone intercom, so you need the AX CCU in place for it to function. If your building runs a different Aiphone platform, the AX-DV is not the door station for it.
2) How far can I run the wire from the AX-DV entry station back to the control unit?
Up to 980 feet on Cat-5e. That covers most single buildings and long lobby-to-equipment-room runs. The AX-DV uses Cat-5e rather than proprietary multi-conductor cable, so an installer can pull and terminate it with standard structured cabling practice.
3) What is the difference between the Aiphone AX-DV and the AX-DV-P?
Same door station, one added function. The AX-DV-P carries an embedded HID card reader with standard Wiegand output, so residents or staff can badge in while visitors use the call button. The plain AX-DV has the camera, speaker, microphone and call directory but no reader. Order the P version if you want the intercom and the credential reader in one faceplate instead of mounting a separate reader alongside it.
4) Can the AX-DV-P card reader tie into my existing access control panel?
The reader in the AX-DV-P outputs standard Wiegand, which is what conventional access control panels accept on their reader inputs. The intercom side runs to the AX control unit; the reader side runs to your access panel as a separate cable. Confirm your panel takes Wiegand credentials and that the HID card format you already issue matches.
5) Is the Aiphone AX-DV rated for outdoor entrance use?
