The JP-DV is an aluminum die cast surface mount video door station.

This unit work with the JP Series and connect to the master station using an 18AWG 2-conductor solid core cable. The JP-DA includes a camera, microphone, speaker, and call button. Tamper resistant screws are provided for mounting the JP-DV and JP-DVF stations.

When the call button on the door station is pushed, the inside master station(s) ring and the video screen displays the image from the door station’s camera. The master station initiates communication, and the person at the door station speaks hands-free. The JP door stations can be located up to 330’ from the master monitor using 18AWG 2 conductor solid core cable (Aiphone wire #871802).

1) What wire do I need to run to an Aiphone JP-DV door station?
Two conductors, that's it. The JP-DV runs on low capacitance, non-shielded 2-conductor cable, and Aiphone specifies their #871802 wire for the run. No coax, no separate power drop to the door, no Cat5 home run. For retrofit work in an existing building that is usually the deciding detail: if there is already a 2-conductor pair between the entry and the unit, you can often reuse it.
2) Can the JP-DV video door station be installed outdoors on an uncovered entrance?
The JP-DV is weather resistant with a die cast housing and is rated for -4 to 140 degrees F (-20 to 60 degrees C), so it handles an exterior entry across most North American climates. It is listed as a commercial product. Under a soffit or recessed entry is still the better location for any surface mount door station taking direct weather.
3) What master station does the Aiphone JP-DV work with?
The JP-DV is a JP Series door station and connects to a JP Series master station. It is not a standalone unit, so a master has to be part of the order. Pressing the call button rings the inside master or masters, the screen brings up the camera view, and the master initiates the conversation.
4) How much of the entry area will I actually see on the monitor with a JP-DV?
The camera is a 1/4 inch CMOS with a wide field, roughly 100 degrees by 170 degrees, and the master station gives you digital pan, tilt and zoom to move around inside that image. That is wide enough to pick up a package on the ground or a second person standing off to the side of the door, which is the usual complaint with a narrow lens. Built-in LED illumination comes on by itself when light drops.
5) Does the JP-DV need a separate camera, speaker or call button added at the door?
No, the door-side hardware is all in the one housing: camera, microphone, speaker and call button. What you supply is the JP Series master station inside, the 2-conductor run between them, and the MKW-P plate if you are landing it on a 1-gang box rather than the wall face.
6) Is the JP-DV the flush mount version or the surface mount version?
Surface mount. The JP-DV sits on the face of the wall with its die cast cover. Aiphone's flush counterpart in the same family is the JP-DVF, which is the one to specify when the station has to sit inside the wall with only the faceplate proud. Both ship with tamper resistant mounting screws.
7) Can a visitor talk to the JP-DV without pressing and holding anything?
