Aiphone JO-DV - Surface Mount Video Doorbell Station with Color Camera for JO Series

The JO-DV surface mount video door station is built for the JO Series and connects to a master station or expansion station on 18 AWG 2-conductor solid core cable. The wiring to the master is 2-conductor, low capacitance, solid, non-shielded, and it is not polarity-fussy about a separate power run because the station draws its power from the inside monitor. Distance is the real limit: 165 feet on 22 AWG, 330 feet on 18 AWG. If your run from the door to the monitor is longer than 330 feet, this station will not carry it and you need a different system architecture.

A single gang electrical box is what the JO-DV mounts to, surface on the wall. No separate power supply or transformer at the door: the inside monitor feeds it over the same 2-conductor run. So the rough-in is one gang box at the entry and one low voltage pair back to the monitor location. Tamper resistant screws come with the station for the mounting.

IP54 enclosure rating on the JO-DV means it is protected against dust and against water splashing from any direction, so a normal exterior entry is within its range, but it is not sealed for direct pressure washing or immersion. Operating temperature runs from -40 to 140 degrees F (-40 to 60 degrees C), which covers northern winters and full sun on a south facing door. It also carries an IK08 impact rating and a zinc die cast faceplate, which is the part that matters at a multi-family or commercial entry where the station gets hit.

It is a commercial rated station. The body is aluminum die cast with a zinc die cast faceplate, it is IK08 impact rated, and it ships with tamper resistant screws so it cannot be pulled off the wall with a common driver. For a property manager standardizing entries across a building, that combination is the difference between this and a plastic residential doorbell camera.

Yes. The JO-DV uses a 1/4 inch color CMOS camera with LED illumination that switches on automatically when light drops, so a visitor at a dark doorway is still visible on the monitor without anyone touching a setting. The camera is fixed, not pan and tilt, so aim the station at the approach when you set the gang box height.

The JO-DV is compatible with the GT-MKB-N video guard station, which is the piece that matters if you are running a staffed lobby or security desk and want the entry call to land there as well as on the JO Series monitor.

Surface mount is the distinction. The JO-DV sits on the face of the wall over a single gang box, so it suits masonry, existing finished walls, or any entry where you are not opening up the wall. The flush JO-DVF is the recessed alternative for new construction or a wall you are already cutting into. Both take the same tamper resistant mounting screws.

The JO-DV is a single call button station, one button, one entry. It fits the straightforward case: one door, one monitor or a monitor plus expansion station inside. It does not break out multiple tenants at one panel, so a multi-tenant lobby with a directory of residents needs a different Aiphone platform, not this station.

Communication is handsfree, so a visitor just talks, no press-to-talk at the door. Each JO-DV includes the camera, microphone, speaker and call button in the one unit, plus an LED backlit nameplate so the entry is readable after dark.
