Aiphone IE-2AD - Main Handset for 2 Doors, Up To 3 Rooms

The IE-2AD master station handles up to 2 door stations and up to 3 inside (sub) stations. That covers a small commercial front and rear entry with a front desk, a back office, and a maintenance room answering. If you need more than two entries or more than three interior answering points, this master is at its ceiling and you need to step up to a larger Aiphone intercom master.

Two different cables. Door station back to the master runs on Aiphone #822202; master out to the sub stations runs on Aiphone #822206. Distance on the door-to-master run is 500 feet at 22 AWG or 1,180 feet at 18 AWG. Master to the farthest sub is shorter: 250 feet at 22 AWG or 590 feet at 18 AWG. On a long building, pull the heavier 18 AWG rather than assuming the 22 AWG number will reach.

The IE-2AD runs on 12 to 16V AC or 12 to 24V DC, and the station is rated 24V AC/DC at 500mA. So a transformer or supply sized for 500mA at 24V covers it. Note the AC and DC windows are not the same: 16V is the top on AC, 24V on DC.

Selective door release is available, but it takes the Aiphone RY-3DL relay adaptor. Without it you do not get the ability to pick which of the two entries you are unlocking from the handset. Budget the RY-3DL into the order if the building has a front and a rear entrance that need independent release.

It is a handset master, so the conversation is private on the master end rather than broadcast open into the room. That matters at a leasing office counter, a clinic reception desk, or any front position where a tenant or patient is standing within earshot when a call comes in. If you want hands-free open-voice answering instead, this is the wrong style of master.

Room-to-room calling is All Call type: the master pages all the inside stations together rather than ringing one selected room. If your job needs the front desk to call only the shop and not the whole building, All Call will not do that.

Door monitoring is built in at the master, so the IE-2AD reports door status back to the answering position. For a property manager watching a rear service entry that gets propped, that is the feature doing the work here, not the intercom audio.

Commercial rated. It is part of Aiphone's IE Series, and the IE-2AD is the master handset in that family, so door stations and sub stations you specify for the system need to be IE Series compatible parts rather than pieces pulled from a different Aiphone line.
