The IX-DVM is a UL Listed mullion-mount IP video door station that is weather and vandal resistant. The station contains a contactless call sensor for touchless call-in. The touchless sensor incorporates a Class 1 laser. The station is equipped with a 720p HD, wide dynamic range fixed color camera that can be streamed to third party devices using ONVIF® Profile S or RTSP. Video can be captured on a microSD™ card. The IX-DVM can be programmed to call up to 20 different stations with three different call level selections.

Sound files can be uploaded for custom messages to be played during certain functions (door release, call placed, communication start, error message, and more). The stations have audible and LED indicators for calling, communication, and door release. There is one contact output that can be used for door release, and one input that can be used to trigger an outgoing call or answer a call/page.

1) Will the Aiphone IX-DVM fit on a narrow door mullion or glass front frame?
That is what it's built for. The IX-DVM measures 1-7/8" W x 1-5/16" L x 6-7/8" H, a small form factor intended for mullion mounting, so it fits on the narrow vertical stile of an aluminum storefront or glass entry where a full-size door station won't sit flat.
2) Can the IX-DVM be mounted outdoors in cold or exposed locations?
Yes. The IX-DVM is weather and vandal resistant, rated IP54 for dust and water and IK07 for impact, and it operates from -40 to 140 degrees F (-40 to 60 C). That covers unsheltered exterior entries in both northern winters and hot climates.
3) What power does the Aiphone IX-DVM door station need - do I have to run a separate power supply?
No separate supply needed. The IX-DVM is powered over the network cable using PoE to IEEE 802.3af class 0, drawing 4.6W maximum. One Cat cable from an 802.3af switch or injector handles both power and data, which is usually what decides whether this or a wired-power station is the easier install.
4) Can the IX-DVM release the door lock directly, or do I need an access control panel?
It can drive a release on its own. The station has one relay output, a Form C dry contact wired N/O or N/C, rated 24V AC 1A or 24V DC 1A on a resistive load. That will switch a low-current strike or trigger a door control relay; anything drawing more than 1A at 24V needs an interposing relay or a separate power supply doing the switching. There is also one trigger input that can start an outgoing call or answer a call or page.
5) Can I pull the IX-DVM camera into my existing VMS or record it?
Yes. The 720p HD wide dynamic range fixed color camera streams to third party devices over ONVIF Profile S or RTSP, encoded H.264/AVC or motion JPEG, so a standard VMS can pick it up. Video can also be captured locally on a microSD card, which is a slot on the station; Aiphone does not supply the card, so add one to the order if you want onboard recording.
6) Can the Aiphone IX-DVM register to our SIP phone system instead of dedicated intercom masters?
Yes, it is SIP 2.0 compliant, with audio codecs G.711 (mu-law and A-law) and G.722. It is also a certified Avaya DevConnect Technology Partner product with Avaya IP Office and Avaya Aura Communication Manager. Used on the IX network on its own, it can be programmed to call up to 20 different stations with three call level selections.
7) Does the IX-DVM meet our network security and government procurement requirements?
For network side, it supports IEEE 802.1X port security and runs HTTPS along with IPv4/IPv6, TCP, UDP, SIP, HTTP, RTSP, RTP, RTCP, IGMP, MLD, SMTP, FTP, DHCP, NTP and DNS. On procurement, the station is UL Listed and manufactured in a TAA compliant country, which is typically what a government or institutional spec asks for.

It has a contactless call sensor, so a visitor places the call by presenting a hand rather than pressing a button. The sensor uses a Class 1 laser conforming to IEC 60825-1:2014, which is the eye-safe class. Audible and LED indicators confirm calling, communication, and door release to the person at the door.
9) Will the IX-DVM see a visitor standing close to a narrow mullion, and does it work at night?
The camera angle is approximately 170 degrees horizontal, wide enough to hold a face in frame from right up against the door where a mullion mount puts the lens. A white LED provides low-light illumination for after-hours entries.
10) Can we play custom announcements at the door with the IX-DVM?
Yes. Sound files can be uploaded to the station and played during specific events, including door release, call placed, communication start, and error messages. Useful where you want plain-language prompts at a visitor entrance instead of generic tones.
