The IX-DVF (flush mount) are weather resistant, (IP65) IP addressable video door stations. They connect to a network using Cat-5e/6 cable and are both SIP compliant. Each station is equipped with a 1.23 megapixel fixed color camera. The camera angle can be vertically adjusted using a lever on the back of the station. The video can be streamed to 3rd party devices using ONVIF Profile S or RTSP. Audio and video can be captured on a microSD™ card.

The IX-DVF can be programmed to call up to 20 different stations. There are 3 different call level selections. The stations have a 600Ω output that can be used for paging or communication. There are 2 contact outputs that can be programmed to trigger during door release, when the 600Ω output is used or based on the status of the station. There are 6 inputs that can be used to trigger an outgoing call or answer a call/page. Sound files can be uploaded for custom messages to be played during certain functions (door release, call placed, communication start, error message). The stations have audible and visual indications for calling, communication, and door release.

Aiphone IX-DVF – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Aiphone IX-DVF door station work outdoors in a cold climate?
The IX-DVF is built for exterior use. It is IP65 rated and weather resistant, with an operating range of -40 to 140 degrees F (-40 to 60 degrees C), so a north-facing entry in a cold-winter market is within spec. The faceplate is stainless steel and the unit carries an IK08 impact rating, which is what you want at a multi-family or commercial entry where the panel takes abuse.
2) Does the Aiphone IX-DVF need its own power supply, or does it run on PoE?
One Cat-5e/6 run does everything. The IX-DVF takes power over Ethernet, IEEE 802.3af class 0, and draws 5.28 watts, so a standard 802.3af switch port carries it with no local transformer. It also supports PoE pass through when fed from an 802.3at Type 2 PoE+ source, which matters if you are powering a downstream device from the same run.
3) Can an Aiphone IX-DVF video door station tie into our existing phone system so calls get answered off-site?
Yes, through SIP. The IX-DVF is SIP compliant and can integrate with Cisco Unified Call Manager, which is how you route an entry call to an off-site answering point rather than a master station in the lobby. It speaks IPv4 and IPv6 with TCP, UDP, SIP, HTTP, HTTPS, RTSP, RTP, RTCP, IGMP, MLD, SMTP, FTP, DHCP, NTP and DNS, and supports IEEE 802.1X port security for networks that require authenticated ports.
4) Which Aiphone IX-DVF should I order for a building with several tenants or departments?
The IX-DVF comes as a Standard single-call station, a 4-button video door station, and a 6-button video door station. Pick the button count by how many separate answering points a visitor needs to choose from at the door. Two other builds cover different needs: the HW version uses a hand wave call button so no one has to touch the panel, and the L version adds T-coil compatibility for hearing aid users. Note that the station itself can be programmed to call up to 20 different stations with 3 call level selections, so the button count is about visitor choice, not a limit on where a call can land.
5) Can the Aiphone IX-DVF release the door strike and trigger other devices?
The station has 2 contact outputs that can be programmed to fire on door release, when the 600 ohm output is in use, or based on station status, which is how you drive a strike or maglock relay and signal a second device off the same event. There are also 6 trigger inputs that can start an outgoing call or answer an incoming call or page, useful for a request-to-exit, a knox switch, or a call button wired in from elsewhere.
6) How do I aim the Aiphone IX-DVF camera if the mounting height is wrong for the people at the door?
The camera tilts mechanically. A lever on the back of the station sets the vertical angle to +15, 0, or -8 degrees, so a station mounted high can be dropped toward face height and one set low can be raised. It is a manual adjustment made at install, which means you want access to the back of the station before the box is closed up.
7) Does the Aiphone IX-DVF record video, and do I need to buy anything to make that work?
Audio and video from active conversations are captured to a microSD card, and the card is not supplied with the station. Budget a microSD card per door when you order, otherwise you install the unit and get no recording. Streaming to a third party recorder over ONVIF Profile S or RTSP is the other route if you would rather keep footage centrally.
8) Do I need an accessible or touchless entry station for an Aiphone IX-DVF install?
Two builds address that directly. The HW version replaces the press button with a hand wave call button, so a visitor never touches the panel, which is the one to specify in healthcare or food handling entries. The L version adds T-coil compatibility, which couples audio directly to a hearing aid set to telecoil. Both are ordered as a device option on the IX-DVF rather than as add-on parts.
9) Can an Aiphone IX-DVF door station play a custom announcement or drive a paging speaker?
Both. Sound files can be uploaded so custom messages play at door release, when a call is placed, at the start of communication, and on an error. The station also carries a 600 ohm output for paging or communication, so it feeds an amplifier or a separate speaker circuit at the entry. On top of that it gives audible and visual indication for calling, communication and door release at the panel itself.
10) Is the Aiphone IX-DVF suitable for a commercial or institutional building rather than a house?
The IX-DVF is a commercial grade product, and its build reflects that: stainless steel faceplate, IK08 impact rating, IP65 weather resistance, 802.1X port security and SIP integration into an enterprise phone system. It is an IP video door station in Aiphone's IX Series, which is the line to standardize on if you are rolling the same station across multiple entries in a facility.
