1) How long does the TS-3T hold the door unlocked, and can I change the time?
The relay timer is field adjustable from 2 to 45 seconds. Press the button, the door releases, and it relocks when the time runs out. That range covers a quick single-person egress at the low end and an ADA-style extended hold at the high end.
2) Will the TS-3T push button fit a standard single gang electrical box?
It mounts on a single gang wall plate, so a standard single gang box or mud ring works. The one dimension to check is depth: the switch body projects 2-1/2 inches behind the plate, so a shallow box in a thin partition will not take it.
3) What voltage does the TS-3T request to exit button run on and what can its contacts switch?
The LED illumination runs on 12 or 24 VAC or VDC, so it drops onto the same supply as most maglock and strike power. The SPDT timed contacts are rated 2A at 35 VDC. Anything above that, or an AC lock load, needs an interposing relay between the button and the lock.
4) Is the Alarm Controls TS-3T UL listed for access control?
It is UL 294 listed, which is the access control system units standard inspectors ask for on egress and release devices.
5) I need two separate outputs from one exit button - what should I order instead of the standard TS-3T?
Stay within the TS square family and order the TS-3-2T, which provides two SPDT outputs, one set of momentary contacts and one set of timed contacts, on the same 2 inch green illuminated PUSH TO EXIT button and satin stainless steel single gang plate. That lets one press both trigger an alarm shunt or door position input and hold the lock released for the timed interval. The Dortronics 5215-SPB is a single illuminated push button exit release on a single gang plate and would not cover a two-output requirement.
6) Do I need a timer relay in the panel if I use the TS-3T?
No. The timer is built into the station, so you are not adding a separate timer module or occupying a panel output to get a timed release. That is the whole point of the T suffix versus a plain momentary exit button, and it keeps the unlock time adjustable at the door rather than in the closet.
7) How is the TS-3T wired in, and does it come terminated?
The switch comes terminated with 10 inch colored leads behind the plate, so you wire-nut to your field cable in the gang box rather than landing on screw terminals. Budget for that when you are figuring box fill.
8) I need a smaller button face on the wall plate - what is an alternative to the Alarm Controls TS-3T?
The TS-3T carries a 2 inch square green illuminated button. For a smaller face, the Dortronics 5215-SPB is a 1-1/2 inch square illuminated push button on a single gang plate.
