1) Is the Metallics TS106G anchor galvanized for outdoor or wet use?
Yes, the TS106G is hot-dip galvanized (HDG), the heavier zinc coating used on exterior and damp-location anchoring: rooftop equipment curbs, exterior strut and conduit racks, light pole and sign bases, loading docks. Plain zinc-plated wedge anchors are the indoor-only version. For chloride or chemical exposure, stainless is the step up from HDG.
2) Can I use a 1 x 6 wedge anchor in block, brick, or hollow-core deck?
No. Wedge anchors like the TS106G are for solid, poured concrete only. In hollow block or brick the expansion clip has nothing solid to bite into and the anchor will spin or pull. For masonry use a sleeve anchor or a screw anchor rated for block, and for hollow-core deck use a toggle or an internally threaded insert.
3) How thick a fixture will the 6 inch length of the TS106G handle?
The 6 inch overall length is split between embedment in the concrete and the grip range above the surface. With a 1 inch anchor you need the majority of that length in the slab, so figure on fastening relatively thin base plates and brackets rather than thick timber or built-up shims. If you need more stand-off than the plate thickness allows, go to a longer 1 inch anchor rather than reducing embedment.
4) What tools do I need to set a 1 inch Metallics wedge anchor?
A rotary hammer with a 1 inch carbide bit, a blow-out bulb or vacuum to clear the hole, a hammer to drive the anchor flush, and an impact wrench or torque wrench to pull the nut down and expand the wedge. At this diameter a hammer drill in rotary-only mode will not get through a slab efficiently, so plan on an SDS-Plus or SDS-Max rotary hammer.
