A wedge anchor is a mechanical expansion anchor for solid, poured concrete. You drill a hole the same diameter as the anchor, drive it in, and tightening the nut pulls the cone to wedge the clip against the hole wall. The 1 inch by 9 inch size here is heavy structural work, think column baseplates, equipment frames, and large strut or rack supports. Wedge anchors are not for hollow block, brick, or grouted CMU, and they are not for drywall or overhead sustained tension where an adhesive anchor or a sleeve type anchor is the correct choice.

A 1 inch wedge anchor takes a 1 inch carbide bit in a hammer drill. Wedge anchors are drilled at the same nominal diameter as the anchor body, and the hole must go deeper than the embedment you intend so the anchor can be driven below the surface if needed. With a 9 inch anchor, confirm your slab or footing is thick enough for the embedment plus the thickness of what you are fastening.

Hot dip galvanizing is the corrosion coating on this 1 x 9 wedge anchor, which is what you specify for exterior concrete, loading docks, parking structures and other wet or weather exposed anchoring rather than a plain zinc plated anchor.

Wedge anchors in this style ship as a complete assembly, the threaded stud with the expansion clip, plus the nut and washer already on the threads, so no separate hardware is needed to set them. What you do need on site is a 1 inch carbide hammer drill bit, a blow-out bulb or vacuum to clear the hole, and a torque wrench to set the anchors evenly.
