Metallics JBA1 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are blue plastic anchors like the JBA1 the right choice for hollow drywall, or should I use a toggle?
Ribbed plastic anchors such as the JBA1 are for light loads in drywall, plaster, or masonry where the screw has nothing solid to bite. At 3/4 inch they suit 1/2 inch board and take #6 or #8 screws. For anything carrying real weight, a shelf, a heavy fixture, a grab bar, use a toggle or a self-drilling metal anchor instead. Plastic anchors spin out when overloaded.
2) How many anchors come in a jar of Metallics JBA1?
One hundred anchors per jar, packed in a screw-top jar rather than a blister card, so it is a shop or truck-stock quantity rather than a single-job pack.
3) Is the Metallics JBA1 an electrical-trade anchor or a general construction fastener?
It is carried as an electrical fastener, which is how most electricians buy it, but there is nothing electrical-specific about the anchor itself. The same #6-#8 blue plastic anchor is used by maintenance and property crews for signage, brackets, and trim work on drywall.
