The Appleton Contender™ CPS Factory-Sealed Pin and Sleeve Receptacle delivers explosionproof protection for stationary or portable equipment operating in hazardous, damp, or corrosive locations. Rated 20A at 125-250 Vac or 18 Vdc with a 3-pole, 2-wire configuration, this receptacle is built for Class I, Division 1 and 2, Groups C, D hazardous area service and meets all UL and CSA requirements for ground fault protection when used with the GFCI cover. Factory sealing eliminates the need for external seals, simplifying installation in demanding industrial environments.

• Delayed Action Construction: Insert the plug to first stop, move the Slide-Lok™ slide to the right, then push the plug fully forward to energize – a deliberate two-step engagement that reduces arcing risk.
• Factory Sealed: External seals are not required, streamlining hazardous location installation.
• Durable Construction: Receptacle cover and CPP516 plug are copperfree (4/10 of 1% max.) aluminum with epoxy powder coat finish; mounting box is malleable iron with triple-coat protection; insulating blocks are fiberglass reinforced polyester for superior dielectric and mechanical strength with lowest arc tracking.
• Electrical Rating: 20A at 125-250 Vac or 18 Vdc, 3-pole, 2-wire, with a 1 horsepower rating for reliable power delivery.
• Mounting Box Entries: Available in Dead-End or Feed-Thru configurations to suit installation layout.
• Strain Relief: Plug mechanical cable clamps prevent strain on cables and meet or exceed UL strain relief pull-out requirements; plug cable diameter range is .538 – .639.
• Pressure Terminal Connectors: Plug and receptacle are supplied with pressure terminal connectors for secure, code-compliant wiring.
• Cover Compatibility: Covers are UL Classified for use with the Crouse-Hinds™ CPP516 plug.
