Appleton EDS Series Explosionproof Factory-Sealed Tumbler Switch
Appleton EDS Series factory sealed tumbler switches are explosionproof, dust-ignitionproof switches designed to confine the arcing of enclosed switches, preventing ignition of ignitable atmospheres during connect and disconnect operation of lighting and light power loads. Built with malleable iron bodies and covers, a triple-coat zinc electroplate, chromate, and epoxy powder coat finish, and certified for Class I, Division 1 and 2, Groups B, C, D; Class II, Division 1 and 2, Groups E, F, G; Class III; and NEMA 3, 7 BCD, 9EFG, this series is engineered for classified areas such as chemical and petrochemical plants, refineries, and other process industries. 1/2" and 3/4" 1-gang units are suitable for Class I, Group B, in addition to Class I, Groups C and D.

- Trade Size: Available in 1/2" and 3/4" 1-gang configurations suitable for Class I, Group B, plus Groups C and D; Class II, Groups E, F and G; and Class III.
- Durable Construction: Malleable iron body and covers with a copperfree (4/10 of 1% max.) aluminum sealing chamber on select models for corrosion-resistant, flame-tight strength.
- Factory-Sealed Design: Sealing chamber has prewired factory sealed pigtail leads to the switch, containing arcing devices within an explosionproof labyrinth switch built to UL Standard.
- Flame-Tight Assembly: Corrosion resistant stainless steel hex head cap screws attach the cover/body/sealing chamber assembly, with smooth double-face, accurately ground sealing chamber flange surfaces mating to cover and body for positive flame-tight construction.
- Handle Options: Choice of front-operating or side rocker arm handle, each lockable in ON or OFF position, with a threaded stainless steel operating handle for corrosion-resistant operation.
- Mounting & Protection: External mounting lugs ease installation; smooth, rounded integral bushing in each hub protects conductor insulation; enclosures furnished with an internal ground screw.
- Finish: Triple-coat finish of (1) zinc electroplate, (2) chromate, and (3) epoxy powder coat.
