Appleton EFS Series Explosionproof Non-Sealed Tumbler Switch, Malleable Iron
Appleton EFS Series non-sealed tumbler switches deliver explosionproof, dust-ignitionproof switching for lighting and light power loads in classified hazardous locations. Built with malleable iron bodies and covers, these switches are rated 20 Amp and 30 Amp for use with 120-277 Vac circuits, and are certified for Class I, Division 1 and 2, Groups C, D; Class II, Division 1 and 2, Groups E, F, G; and Class III locations. Available in 1- or 2-gang configurations, EFS switches are engineered for chemical and petrochemical plants, refineries, and other process industries where ignitable vapors, gases, or highly combustible dusts are present.
Key Features
- Configuration Options: Available in 1- or 2-gang copperfree (4/10 of 1% max.) aluminum bodies and covers in addition to standard malleable iron construction, for flexible mounting layouts.
- Durable Construction: Malleable iron body and covers with a Nylon 6/6 handle resist damage in demanding industrial environments.
- Explosionproof Design: Smooth ground mating surfaces between cover and mounting enclosure assure a flame-tight joint, preventing arcing of enclosed switches during connect and disconnect operation.
- Amperage & Voltage Rating: 20 Amp and 30 Amp units available for use with 120-277 Vac lighting and light power loads.
- Stainless Steel Hardware: Stainless steel hex head cap screws attach the cover to the mounting enclosure, and each handle uses a close-tolerance threaded stainless steel shaft to meet explosionproof requirements.
- Operator Handle: Choice of front-operating or side rocker arm handle, each lockable in the ON or OFF position.
- Conductor Protection: Smooth, rounded integral bushing in each hub protects conductor insulation.
- Finish: Triple-coat finish of (1) zinc electroplate, (2) chromate, and (3) epoxy powder coat for corrosion resistance.
- Mounting: External mounting lugs on enclosures and an internal ground screw ease installation and grounding.
