Appleton GRJ Series Explosionproof Conduit Outlet Box, Malleable Iron
Appleton GRJ conduit outlet boxes are explosionproof, dust-ignitionproof, and raintight, engineered for use in classified indoor and outdoor locations. Furnished with an internal ground screw and a corrosion-resistant malleable iron body, these boxes provide access for maintenance, allow connection of different lengths of conduit, and permit changing the direction of conduit runs. They are rated for Class I, Division 1 and 2, Groups C, D; Class II, Division 1 and 2, Groups E, F, G; and Class III classified locations.
Key Features
- Durable Construction: Malleable iron bodies deliver high tensile strength and ductility, with strong resistance to corrosion, impact, and shock.
- Threaded Design: Externally threaded body with an internally threaded cover for a secure, explosionproof joint.
- Ground Continuity: Accurately tapped, tapered hub threads produce tight, rigid joints and reliable ground continuity.
- Conductor Protection: Smooth, rounded integral bushing in each hub-type box protects conductor insulation from abrasion.
- Conduit Compatibility: Designed for use with threaded metal conduit for general purpose wiring.
- Complete Assembly: Furnished with covers and ready for installation.
- Compact Footprint: Small, round conduit outlet box design suited for tight enclosure spaces.

Why Appleton?
Appleton builds the GRJ Series from malleable iron with a triple-coat zinc electroplate, chromate, and epoxy powder coat finish, giving these outlet boxes lasting resistance to corrosion, impact, and shock in demanding classified environments. Every GRJ box combines accurately tapped hub threads, an integral conductor-protecting bushing, and an internal ground screw to deliver explosionproof, dust-ignitionproof, raintight performance electricians can count on for code-compliant installations.
GRJ body-style key: the letter after GRJ denotes hub count/arrangement, not just size — GRJX is the 4-hub "cross" configuration (this listing); GRJL is the 2-hub "L" configuration (see the separate GRJL listing); GRJT is the 3-hub "tee" configuration. These are different box shapes for different conduit-run layouts, not simple size variants of one part — confirm the hub count and layout you need before ordering.
