1) Can I use the Arrow 3700 vertical rod device on a fire rated door?
No. The 3700 Series surface vertical rod device is not fire rated. It meets NFPA 101 for life safety egress, but a labeled fire door assembly needs a fire exit device. Fire rated surface vertical rod options include the Adams Rite 3100 Series and the TownSteel 9700 Series EF9727.
2) Is the Arrow 3700 exit device handed, and how do I order the right hand?
Handing matters here. The 37-01 is a handed device, and the 36 inch size is offered in left hand reverse (LR) and right hand reverse (RR). Exit devices mount on the push side, so a door that pulls toward you from the outside is reverse bevel. Determine the hand at the opening before ordering, because you cannot flip it in the field.
