1) How much stile width do I need for an Arrow 3700 exit device?
Plan on 4-1/2 inches of stile if you are mounting trim with it, and 3-1/2 inches without trim. It is a wide stile pushpad device, so a narrow aluminum storefront stile generally will not take it. For a narrow stile opening look at a narrow stile vertical rod instead, such as the Corbin Russwin ED4400 or the Von Duprin 3327A.
2) Do I have to order the Arrow 3700 vertical rod device by hand?
Yes, handing matters. The 3700 is a handed device, not reversible in the field, and the 48 inch version is offered as LR (left hand reverse) or RR (right hand reverse). Stand outside the door: exit devices are specified by the reverse bevel handing of the leaf they go on, so confirm the swing before you order.
