The RK Series has been enhanced to offer a wide variety of finishes and functions. The RK Series cylindrical locksets are an economical value for a variety of application. Perfect for multi-family housing markets, as well as light commercial applications.

 

Standard features 

  • Construction: Cold rolled steel with zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. Requires standard 2-1/8" (53.97mm) bore through door.
  • Door thickness:Fits 1-3/8" (34.93mm) to 1-3/4" (44.45mm) doors standard.
  • Backset: 2-3/8" (60.31mm) or 2-3/4" (69.85mm). 
  • Latch: Brass 1/2" (12.7mm) throw, UL Listed, guarded latchbolt on all locking functions.
  • Latch Front: 1" x 2-1/4" (25.40mm x 57.15mm) for 2-3/8" backset (60.32.mm) or 1-1/8" x 2-1/4" for 2-3/4" (69.85mm) backset.

Arrow RK02-BD-32D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Arrow RK02 privacy knob fit a 1-3/8 inch bathroom door, or is it only for 1-3/4?
Both. The RK02 covers 1-3/8 inch through 1-3/4 inch doors as standard, so the same part works on older residential-style interior doors and standard commercial leaves. It needs a standard 2-1/8 inch bore through the door, with backsets of 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches.
2) How does the Arrow RK02 privacy function actually work, and can staff get in during an emergency?
The knob retracts the latch from either side, except when the inside turnbutton is pressed, which locks the outside knob. It unlocks by rotating the button from inside, or from outside with an emergency tool. That is the standard bed and bath arrangement, so maintenance can open a locked bathroom without a key. There is no keyed cylinder on the RK02.
3) I have existing strike prep in the frame. Will the RK02 latch into it?
The RK02 uses a 1/2 inch throw brass springlatch, and ships standard with an R60 T-strike measuring 2-3/4 by 1-1/8 inches. Arrow also offers the 4-7/8 inch ANSI strike and a 2-1/4 inch full lip strike, so if your frame is prepped for a full ANSI cutout or a lip strike, order that strike option instead of the standard T-strike.
4) Which backset does the Arrow RK02 ship with, and does the latch faceplate change if I need 2-3/4?
Standard is the R72 springlatch at 2-3/8 inch backset with a 1 x 2-1/4 inch faceplate. Go to the 2-3/4 inch backset and the front becomes 1-1/8 x 2-1/4 inches. Worth knowing if you are dropping into an existing edge mortise, because the wider front will not sit in a cutout routed for the 1 inch face.
5) Is a Grade 2 knob lock like the Arrow RK02 enough for apartment bedroom and bathroom doors?
Yes. The RK02 is ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 and carries the F76A function designation, which is the privacy bed and bath listing. Arrow positions the RK Series for multi-family housing and light commercial, and it is classified as commercial hardware. For heavier traffic openings such as a school or hospital corridor, a Grade 1 cylindrical would be the step up.
6) I need a thicker door than 1-3/4 inches. Does the Arrow RK02 cover it?
No. The RK02 tops out at 1-3/4 inches. For doors up to 2 inches, the Corbin Russwin CK4310 Grade 1 cylindrical covers 1-3/8 to 2 inches, and the Falcon X101 Grade 1 goes to 2-1/4 inches, though both of those are passage function rather than privacy.
7) The door does not need to lock - what do I order instead of the RK02?
Order a passage knob instead. The Arrow RK02 is a privacy function with an inside turnbutton that locks the outside knob, so it is wrong for a hall or closet opening that must stay free. Grade 2 passage knob options include the Dexter C2000 Series passage ball knob for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors, the Corbin Russwin CK4410 Grade 2 passage/closet knob over the same thickness range, and the Falcon W101 Grade 2 passage/closet knob with a 2-3/4 inch backset.
8) The opening needs a key - is there an RK02 equivalent that is keyed?
No. The Arrow RK02 is non-keyed, privacy function only. For a keyed knob on a comparable Grade 2 platform, the Dexter C2000 Series entry/office ball knob is a Grade 2 keyed cylindrical knob for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors, and the Sargent 6G04 is a Grade 2 storeroom/closet knob lock with a single cylinder. If the opening is a classroom, the Dexter C2000 classroom ball knob is the Grade 2 keyed version of that function.
9) My door is 2 inches thick - will the Arrow RK02 work, or do I need something else?
The Arrow RK02 covers 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors, so a 2 inch door is outside its range. Peers that reach 2 inches include the Corbin Russwin CK4310 Grade 1 passage/closet knob and the CK4851 entrance/office knob with conventional cylinder, both rated 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, and the Deltana 6112 St. Thomas privacy knob at 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch if you need the privacy function specifically. The Falcon X101 Grade 1 passage knobset goes further, to 2-1/4 inch.
10) Does the RK02 knob need to be ordered left or right hand?
No handing to specify. The RK02 is non-handed, so one part covers both swings and you can stock a single item across a building.
11) What finishes does the Arrow RK02 privacy knob come in so I can match the rest of my building?
Six BHMA finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil-rubbed satin bronze, 629 bright stainless, and 630 satin stainless. 630 is the usual commercial default and 626-family brass tones are common in older multi-family stock. The roses are wrought brass, 2-1/2 inches in diameter, with total projection off the door face of 2-3/4 inches.
12) What else could I buy instead of the Arrow RK02 for a privacy bath door?

14) Is a dummy knob a substitute for the Arrow RK02?
No. Dummy trim has no latch and no locking mechanism - it is surface-applied pull trim. The Arrow RK02 is a cylindrical privacy lock with a 1/2 inch throw latchbolt and an inside turnbutton. Products such as the Schlage A170 Grade 2 single dummy trim, the BEST 6K Series Grade 2 single dummy, and the Cal-Royal BA40 dummy knob look similar on the door face but will not latch or secure a bath or bedroom opening.
15) Our spec calls for Grade 1 knob locks - what replaces the Arrow RK02 on that spec?
The Arrow RK02 is a Grade 2 lockset, so it will not meet a Grade 1 line item. The Baldwin Estate 5000 Baltimore privacy knob is a decorative 2 inch knob on a 5148 rose, preconfigured with a 2-3/8 inch backset and a full lip strike.
