MK Series Grade 2 Cylindrical Knob Locks

The Arrow MK Series has a clear design and is a simple solution to accessibility requirements.

The MK Series is available in several finishes and functions that make them ideal for commercial applications where heavy duty grade one hardware may not be necessary.

  • Lock Chassis – Cold rolled steel with zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. Requires standard 2-1/8" (53.97mm) bore through door.
  • Backset – 2-3/8" (60.32mm) standard. 2-3/4" (69.85mm), 3-3/4" (95.25mm) and 5" (127mm) available.
  • Door Thickness – 1-3/8" (34.92mm) to 1-3/4" (44.45mm). Latch – Brass with 1/2" (12.7mm) throw.
  • Latch housing is steel, with zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. 7/8" (22.225mm) bore in edge of door is required.
  • Latch Front – Brass, bronze or stainless steel. Standard faceplate for 2-3/8” (60.32.mm) backset measures 2-1/4” (57.15mm) x 1” (25.40mm) with a flat front, for 2-3/4” (69.85mm) backset standard faceplate measures 2-1/4” (57.15mm) x 1-1/8” (28.57mm) with beveled front 1/8” (3.17mm) in 2” (50.8mm). 
  • Strike – Brass, bronze or stainless steel. Standard “T” strike measures 2-3/4" (69.85mm) x 1-1/8" (28.57mm). Optional ANSI A115.1 strike measures 4-7/8" (123.82mm) x 1-1/4" (31.75mm). All strikes have a 1-1/4" (31.75mm) lip to center dimension.

1) Is the Arrow MK02-TA a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset lock?
It ships 2-3/4 inch. The MK Series is also offered in 2-3/8 inch, and long backsets of 3-3/4 inch and 5 inch for doors with wide stiles or glass lites. Measure from the door edge to the center of the bore before you order.
2) How does the privacy function on the Arrow MK02 work, and can staff get in during an emergency?
It is an F76 privacy set. The inside push button locks the outside trim, which freewheels when locked so forcing it does nothing. Outside is released with an emergency release tool, and the button also releases by turning the inside handle or by closing the door. The inside is always free to exit.
3) Will the Arrow MK02 latch into the strike already in my frame?
Depends which prep you have. It comes with an ANSI curved lip strike with a 1-1/4 inch lip length, and the MK Series ANSI A115.1 strike measures 4-7/8 by 1-1/4 inches. If your frame is prepped for the smaller T-strike, that 2-3/4 by 1-1/8 inch option is also part of the series. Lip to center is 1-1/4 inch either way. Latch throw is 1/2 inch.
4) If the door does not need to lock at all, what takes the place of the Arrow MK02-TA?
The MK02-TA is a privacy function with a push button for bedroom and bath doors. Where no locking is wanted on a hall, corridor or closet door, a passage function is the correct substitute: the Falcon B101 is a Grade 2 non-handed cylindrical passage lever lock, and the Accentra 5301LN Augusta is a Grade 2 cylindrical passage/closet lever lock. Both are latch-only, with no privacy button.
5) What is a commercial privacy lock equivalent to the Arrow MK02-TA if a lever is required instead of a knob?
The Arrow MK02-TA is a non-keyed privacy/bed/bath cylindrical lock. For a lever-trim privacy lock in a commercial cylindrical lockset, the Hager 2540 is a Grade 2 privacy cylindrical lock with the Withnell lever and a door thickness range of 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch. Both are bored cylindrical locks; the difference is knob trim versus lever trim, which also matters where ADA-style operable trim is called for.
6) Do I have to specify handing for the Arrow MK02-TA?
No. The MK02 is non-handed and the latch is reversible, so one lock covers left and right hand openings. Useful if you are buying for a building with doors swinging both ways.
