Standard features 

  • Lock Chassis: Cold rolled steel with zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. Requires standard 2-1/8" (53.97mm) bore through door.
  • Door thickness: Fits 1-3/8" (34.93mm) to 1-3/4" (44.45mm) doors standard.
  • Backset: 2-3/8" (60.32mm) standard. 2-3/4" (69.85mm), 3-3/4" (95.25mm) and 5" (127mm) available.
  • Latch: Brass with 1/2" (12.7mm) throw. Latch housing is steel, with zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. 7/8" (22.225mm) bore in edge of door is required.
  • Latch Front: Brass, bronze or stainless steel. Standard faceplate for 2-3/8” (60.32.mm) backset measures 2-1/4” (57.15mm) x 1” (25.40mm) with a flat front, for 2-3/4” (69.85mm) backset standard faceplate measures 2-1/4” (57.15mm) x 1-1/8” (28.57mm) with beveled front 1/8” (3.17mm) in 2” (50.8mm).

1) Can I use an Arrow MK01 passage knob on a fire rated door?
Yes. Arrow MK Series locks are UL and cUL listed for 3 hour, A label or lesser doors, and they conform to ANSI/BHMA A156.2, Series 4000, Grade 2. The MK01 also carries the F75 ANSI function designation and meets Federal Specification FF-H-106C, which is the line an institutional spec usually wants to see.
2) What backset does the Arrow MK01 come with, and can I get it for a 5 inch backset door?
Standard backset on the MK Series is 2-3/8 inch, with 2-3/4 inch, 3-3/4 inch and 5 inch available. Those two long backsets matter on doors with a wide stile or a glass light where the prep sits farther in from the edge. The latch shipped as standard is the 104 springlatch at 2-3/4 inch backset, so specify the backset you need on the order rather than assuming.
3) Does the Arrow MK01 knob lock, or is it just a latch?
No lock at all. The MK01 is passage function, non-keyed: the latchbolt retracts from the knob on either side and there is no cylinder, no button, no thumbturn. Use it on corridors, hall doors and closets where you want a positive latch and free egress. If you need the door to lock, you want a privacy or an entrance function instead, not this one.
4) Will the Arrow MK01 latch into the strike plate that's already in my frame?
Depends on the strike you have. The MK01 latch throws 1/2 inch, which is standard for a cylindrical springlatch, and it ships with the 300 T-strike measuring 2-3/4 by 1-1/8 inches. If your frame is prepped for an ANSI A115.1 strike, that option measures 4-7/8 by 1-1/4 inches. Every MK strike uses a 1-1/4 inch lip-to-center dimension, so as long as your existing frame prep matches one of those two cutouts you are reusing it, not routing a new one.
5) Is a Grade 2 knob enough for a commercial hallway, or do I need Grade 1?
Grade 2 covers commercial openings where heavy duty hardware is not required, which is most hall, closet and office passage doors. The MK01 is a commercial Grade 2 cylindrical set with a cold rolled steel chassis and zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. On high-traffic openings where you want Grade 1, the Schlage D10S passage latch and the Falcon X101 are both Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical passage knobsets, and the Corbin Russwin CK4310 is Grade 1 with a 1-3/8 to 2 inch door thickness range if you need a thicker leaf.
6) What is the closest equivalent to the Arrow MK01 passage knob from another brand?
For a like-for-like Grade 2 commercial cylindrical passage knobset, the Corbin Russwin CK4410 with the Global knob matches on grade, passage/closet function and the same 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch door thickness range. 8) Is a Kwikset 200P Polo passage knob the same thing as an Arrow MK01?
No. The Kwikset 200P Polo is an interior hall and closet passage knob supplied with a 6AL latch and RCS round corner strike, and the 200P-CP ships a round corner adjustable latch and round corner strike. The Arrow MK01 is a commercial cylindrical passage knob certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2, Series 4000, Grade 2 and UL listed for 3 hour fire doors, with a 300 T-strike measuring 2-3/4 inch by 1-1/8 inch as standard. If the opening is a rated commercial door, the Polo does not answer the same spec.
9) I need the same knob look but the door has to lock - what takes the place of a passage knob?

Both are cylindrical passage/hall/closet functions, so the opening behaves the same way.
11) Do I have to specify a hand when ordering an Arrow MK01 knobset?
No handing to call out. The MK01 is reversible, so one part number covers left and right hand openings, in-swing or out-swing. For a property manager buying a pallet of passage sets across a building, that means you order quantity and finish and stop thinking about door swing.
12) Will the Arrow MK01 rose cover the old holes left by the knob I'm replacing?
