The RL Series has been enhanced to offer removable throughbolts and a wide variety of designs, finishes and functions. The RL Series cylindrical locksets are an economical value for a variety of application. Perfect for multi-family housing markets, as well as light commercial applications.

Arrow RL01-SR-26D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Arrow RL01 passage lever fit a 1-3/8 inch door, or do I need a 1-3/4 inch door?
Both. The RL01 passage lever is built for 1-3/8 inch through 1-3/4 inch doors as standard, which covers the older interior doors you find in apartment turnovers as well as standard commercial leaf. It needs a standard 2-1/8 inch cross bore through the door, so it drops into an existing bored prep without redrilling the face.
2) Does the Arrow RL01 lever lock or take a key?
No key, no lock. The RL01 is passage function only: the latchbolt is retracted by the lever from either side and there is no cylinder, no button, no thumbturn. Use it on hallway, closet, and corridor doors where the opening never needs to be secured. If the door needs to lock, you want a different function in the RL family, not this one.
3) Do I have to order the Arrow RL01 handed for a left or right hand door?
Handing is not a factor. The RL01 is non-handed, so one part number works on a left or right hand door swinging either direction. For a property manager buying a pallet of passage sets for a building, that means no field sorting and no wrong-hand returns.
4) Which backset does the Arrow RL01 come with, and will it work in a 2-3/8 inch prep?
The set ships standard with the R73 springlatch at a 2-3/4 inch backset, and the RL Series is built for either 2-3/8 inch or 2-3/4 inch backsets, the two backsets you find on nearly every bored door. Check the hole you have before ordering: the latch front changes with the backset, 1 x 2-1/4 inches on the 2-3/8 inch latch and 1-1/8 x 2-1/4 inches on the 2-3/4 inch.
5) Will the Arrow RL01 latch into the strike already in my frame?
It depends on which strike is in the jamb. The RL01 ships with the R62 ASA strike, 4-7/8 x 1-1/4 inches, which is the tall commercial strike cut into a hollow metal frame. The latch throws 1/2 inch, so the existing strike lip and pocket have to give it that much travel. Arrow also builds the RL Series for a 2-3/4 inch T strike and a 2-1/4 inch full lip strike, so a wood jamb with a small T strike can be matched instead of chiselling out for the ASA plate.
6) I need a passage lever for a high traffic corridor - what steps up from a Grade 2 Arrow RL01?
The Arrow RL01 is a Grade 2 passage lever built for multi-family housing and light commercial openings. For heavier traffic the Falcon K101 is a Grade 1 heavy duty passage cylindrical lock with non-handed levers, fire rated, covering 1-3/8 inch to 2-1/4 inch doors. The Falcon T101 is also a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical passage lever, built with pressure release technology. The Corbin Russwin CL3110 is a Grade 1 vandal resistant passage/closet lever, fire rated, for 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch doors. The Design Hardware X75 is a Grade 1 passage lever with a flat lever for 1-3/4 inch doors.
7) What is the closest Grade 2 passage lever equivalent to the Arrow RL01?
The Arrow RL01 is a Grade 2 non-keyed cylindrical passage lever with the latchbolt operated by the lever from either side. The Accentra 5301LN Augusta from the 5300 Series is also a Grade 2 lever in the Passage/Hall/Closet function, as is the Accentra 4601LN with Augusta trim in the 4600 Series. For thicker leaves, the Falcon K101 Grade 1 heavy duty passage lock covers 1-3/8 inch to 2-1/4 inch, the Hager 2510 Grade 2 passage lever covers 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, and the Corbin Russwin CL3110 Grade 1 passage/closet lever covers 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch. 11) Is the Master Lock RL Series the same as the Arrow RL01?
No. Both carry an RL Series name but they are different locks. The Master Lock BC Series RL is a Grade 3 return style lever in keyed entrance function. The Arrow RL01 is a Grade 2 non-keyed passage lever where the latchbolt is operated by the lever from either side, non-handed, for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors. Order by the full Arrow part number so the keyed entrance model does not ship in its place.
12) What passage lever should I use on a classroom or institutional door instead of the Arrow RL01?
