1) Will the B-Line 2M2R F meter breaker work on a 120/240V single phase residential service?
Yes. The 2M2R F is built for 1 phase, 3 wire service at 120/240 V, rated 200 A, with a single 200 A 2-pole main breaker built in. That's the standard configuration for a single family dwelling or one unit of a small multi-family building. It will not serve a 3 phase service.
2) Is the 2M2R F a flush mount or surface mount meter breaker?
Flush mount. The 2M2R F sets into the wall rather than hanging on the face of it, so the wall has to be opened and framed for it. The can measures 32 in high, 8 in wide and 4.625 in deep, which is the pocket you need to rough in. If the wall can't be opened, you want a surface mount version of the same meter breaker instead.
3) Does the B-Line 2M2R F take a ringless or ring type meter socket?
Ring type, with 4 jaws. Utilities differ on this, and many specify one or the other in their service handbook, so confirm with the serving utility which style they seal. A ringless cover will not work on this enclosure.
4) Can the 2M2R F be fed from an underground lateral?
No. It's configured for overhead service and ships with an AW hub on top for the weatherhead conductors. An underground feed needs a meter breaker built for bottom entry, not this one.
5) Is 10 kAIC enough for my service, or do I need a higher interrupting rating?
The 2M2R F is rated 10 kAIC. That is adequate where the available fault current at the service point is 10,000 A or less, which covers most residential overhead services fed from a utility pole transformer. If the utility's available fault current letter comes back above 10 kA, you need a higher AIC meter breaker.
6) What size service entrance conductors will land in the 2M2R F?
The lugs accept #6 through 250 MCM, copper or aluminum range. That covers a typical 200 A dwelling service run in 4/0 aluminum or 2/0 copper. The internal bus is aluminum.
7) Is the B-Line 2M2R F rated for outdoor mounting?
Yes, the enclosure is Type 3R, so it handles rain and sleet on an exterior wall. The body is galvanized steel finished in ANSI 61 gray paint. Note it's a flush mount unit, so the exterior wall has to be built to receive it.
