Baldwin 0417 Emergency Release Key

No cylinder and no house key. The 0417 is not keyed; it works with the supplied emergency release key that pops a privacy function open from the corridor side. If you need an entry door that takes a keyed cylinder, this is the wrong part and you want a keyed entry set instead.

Just the outside trim. The 0417 is the backplate and release key for the hall side of a privacy opening, so you still need the knob or lever set and the latch to complete the door. Order it as an add-on or a replacement piece, not as the lock itself.

Fourteen, and they are the Baldwin estate finish codes so they match the rest of a Baldwin suite on the same floor: 003 Polished Brass, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass, 050 Satin Brass and Black, 055 Polished Nickel, 056 Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass and Brown, 076 Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112 Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. If you are matching existing doors in a building, order by the number stamped in the Baldwin literature rather than by the finish name.

Residential. Baldwin lists the 0417 emergency release trim as a residential product, so for apartment interiors, single family homes, and hospitality guest rooms it suits, but a commercial corridor or an opening being specified to a commercial grade should be filled with a commercial rated privacy or entry set.

The 0417 is sold as the oval emergency release trim with its release key included, so it replaces the plate and the key together rather than the key alone. Match the finish code to the trim already on your other doors so the replacement does not stand out.

That is the styling Baldwin gives it. The oval plate is smooth and undecorated, which is why it reads transitional and sits alongside either traditional or modern knobs without clashing. For a property manager standardizing across units, the finish code is what carries the match, not the shape.
