Baldwin 0421 Contemporary Emergency Release Trim & 0417 Key w/ 6701 Cover

The Baldwin 0421 is the outside trim for a privacy door, the round escutcheon that sits under the knob or lever on the hall side of a bedroom or bathroom. It carries an emergency release so the door can be opened from outside when someone is locked in. It ships with the 0417 emergency release key and the 6701 cover.

No cylinder and no keyway. The 0421 is non-keyed privacy trim; entry is made with the included 0417 emergency release key, which is a tool that trips the privacy lock, not a cut key on a keyway. If you need a keyed opening, you want keyed entry trim with a cylinder instead.

It's a residential product. For apartment turns, single-family, and interior bedroom and bath doors it's the right part; for a commercial corridor or a code-driven institutional opening, specify commercial grade privacy trim instead.

Fourteen finishes: 003 Polished Brass, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass, 050 Satin Brass and Black, 055 Polished Nickel, 056 Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass and Brown, 076 Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112/11P Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. Order by the Baldwin finish number to match knobs and roses already on the other doors.

If the lock body and knob are sound and only the outside escutcheon is damaged or the finish has gone, the 0421 trim with its 6701 cover and 0417 key covers that side. It is the backplate and release assembly, not a complete lockset, so the latch and inside trim have to already be in place.

Solid brass with a nickel PVD plating. That's the 056 Lifetime Satin Nickel finish, a matte silver tone over brass, so you get brass weight and a plated surface rather than a coated steel plate.

Yes. The 0421 is the rounded, clean-lined version of Baldwin's emergency release trim, meant to sit with contemporary knob and lever designs rather than ornate or beaded Estate patterns.
