Bobrick 1002664 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What thread size is the Bobrick B-1002664 sex bolt?
The B-1002664 is the male half of a sex bolt (barrel bolt) set, threaded #10-24 with a 3/8 inch length. The #10-24 thread is what mates it to the matching female barrel, so any replacement has to be #10-24 as well, not #10-32.
2) Is the Bobrick 1002664 the bolt only, or does it come with the female barrel?
This is the male screw portion only, identified as Bobrick part 1002664. If the mating barrel in your partition or accessory is damaged or missing, you need to order the female half separately.
3) Will the 3/8 inch length work on my toilet partition panel?
Length is the deciding detail. At 3/8 inch, the male screw only reaches a short way into the female barrel, so it is sized for the specific Bobrick barrel it was supplied with, not for grabbing through a thick panel on its own. Measure the barrel depth on the part you are repairing: if the original male screw was longer than 3/8 inch, this is not the right piece.
4) What is a sex bolt used for on washroom accessories and partitions?
A sex bolt is a two-piece through-fastener: a female barrel passes through the panel from one side and the male screw threads into it from the other, so the head shows on both faces and there is no exposed nut or protruding thread. Bobrick uses them on washroom accessory and partition hardware where the fastener has to be tamper-resistant and finished on both sides. The 1002664 is the male #10-24 x 3/8 screw for that pairing.
5) I manage several buildings with Bobrick washroom accessories. Can I stock this as a general repair fastener?
It works as a stock item for the Bobrick accessories and hardware that use #10-24 sex bolts, and buying the male screw by itself makes sense because the barrel usually survives while the screw gets stripped or stolen. Keep the pairing in mind though: confirm the thread on your installed barrels is #10-24 before standardising on it.
