Bobrick 1002665 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What thread size is the Bobrick B-1002665 sex bolt?
The Bobrick B-1002665 is the male half of a sex bolt set, threaded #10-24 with a 5/8 inch length. It mates with a female barrel of the same #10-24 thread, so any replacement barrel you pair it with has to be #10-24 as well.
2) Is the B-1002665 the barrel or the screw half of the sex bolt?
It is the male screw half. A sex bolt is a two-piece fastener: a female barrel passes through the panel from one side and the male screw threads into it from the other. Bobrick lists this one as male #10-24 x 5/8, so if you are missing the sleeve you need the mating female barrel too.
3) What is this Bobrick fastener used for in a washroom?
It is a washroom accessory fastener, used on Bobrick partition and accessory hardware where a through-bolt has to be tightened from both faces of a panel. Typical spots are toilet partition hardware, grab bar and dispenser mounting, and any panel connection where a bolt head is wanted on each side rather than exposed threads.
4) Can I use a standard #10-24 machine screw instead of the B-1002665?
No. A standard machine screw has a plain point and will not seat correctly in a sex bolt barrel, and the 5/8 inch length on the Bobrick male half is matched to the barrel depth. Substituting a loose screw usually leaves the joint proud or bottoms out before it clamps. Order the male half sized as Bobrick specifies, #10-24 x 5/8.
5) How many sex bolts come with Bobrick B-1002665?
B-1002665 is a single model line covering the male #10-24 x 5/8 bolt, with no size or finish choices to select. Count the fastener locations on your partition or accessory and order that quantity.
