Bobrick 6747x24 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How far does the Bobrick B-6747 towel bar stick out from the wall?
The bar projects 3-1/4 inches off the wall, which is enough hanging room for a folded bath towel or washcloths to dry. In a tight restroom or between a lavatory and a partition, measure that 3-1/4 inches of clearance before you set the mounting height.
2) Is the B-6747 X 24 surface mounted, and what holds it to the wall?
Surface mount. It lands on two concealed wall plates of 16-gauge stainless steel, each with a stainless steel locking set-screw that captures the bar end, so no fasteners show once it's up. You anchor the plates to the wall first, slide the bar on, then tighten the set-screws.
3) What length and tube diameter is the Bobrick B-6747 X 24 towel bar?
24 inches long, in 3/4 inch round stainless tubing. The X 24 in the model designation is the length, so if you need a different run you're ordering a different length of the B-6747.
4) Will a stainless towel bar like this hold up in a high-traffic public restroom?
It's built for commercial and institutional use: stainless steel throughout with all-welded construction, so there are no crimped joints to work loose when someone leans on it. The bright polished finish wipes down and won't corrode in a wet room the way plated steel does.
5) Can I use this towel bar in a shower or on a partition rather than drywall?
The bar itself is stainless and all-welded so moisture is not the issue; the limit is the wall. Each of the two concealed plates has to be anchored into something that will hold a pull load, so on hollow drywall use suitable toggle or blocking behind the plate locations, and on tile or masonry anchor into the solid substrate. Fasteners suited to your wall type are a separate item from the bar.
6) What finish does the Bobrick B-6747 come in, and will it match other Bobrick washroom accessories?
Bright polished stainless steel, which is the standard finish Bobrick uses across its commercial washroom accessory lines, so it reads the same as polished stainless grab bars, paper holders and soap dishes on the same wall. If your building is standardized on satin stainless, this bar will look brighter than those pieces.
