Bobrick 2706 25 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the Bobrick B-2706 coin vendor be converted to free vend for a school free-menstrual-product mandate?
Yes. The B-2706 25 ships set up for 25-cent coin operation, but it converts in the field to free vend, token, or coin without replacing the unit. Order conversion kit part No. 3706-250 for free vend, which is what schools use to meet free menstrual product requirements, or part No. 3706-166 for token vend. The kits are ordered separately from the vendor.
2) Is this napkin/tampon vendor ADA compliant for a public restroom?
The B-2706 25 is listed as ADA compliant. The operating mechanism is push-button, takes less than 5 lb of force, and needs no grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist, which is the operable-parts requirement that trips up older pull-knob vendors. Mounting height is still on the installer to meet reach range.
3) Will the Bobrick B-2706 keys match the other Bobrick washroom accessories already in my building?
Yes, for the cabinet. The vendor has two tumbler door locks keyed like other Bobrick accessories, so the same key that opens your Bobrick paper towel and seat cover cabinets opens this one. The coin box is deliberately separate: it has its own key so only management handles cash, while housekeeping restocks product.
4) How many products does the B-2706 hold before someone has to refill it?
Capacity is 30 tampons and 20 napkins, loaded in separate columns. Loading requires no weights or springs to reset, and when a column runs out the empty product indicator automatically blocks the coin slot so a user cannot pay for nothing. For high-traffic restrooms, that capacity is the number to plan your service route around.
5) What coins does this vendor accept, and what happens if someone puts in a dime or a nickel?
It takes one quarter, U.S. or Canadian. Pennies, nickels, and dimes drop through a bypass mechanism into the product tray rather than jamming the mechanism, and a push-button coin return cancels the selection and returns the quarter. The single-coin slot design is what keeps it jam resistant compared with multi-coin vendors.
6) Is this vendor durable enough for a high-abuse public or school restroom?
Exposed surfaces are Type 304 stainless steel in a satin finish, which is the standard specification for public and institutional washroom accessories because it resists corrosion and hides wear and fingerprints better than a bright polish. Satin is the only finish offered on the B-2706 25.
7) Should I specify a surface-mounted vendor like the B-2706 or a recessed one?
Surface mount is the call when you cannot open the wall: solid masonry, tile over block, a finished retrofit, or a partition too thin for a recessed cabinet. The B-2706 25 mounts on the face of the wall with an adjustable flange that covers minor surface irregularities. The tradeoff is the 7-15/16 inch projection into the room. In new construction with stud framing and room to rough in, a recessed unit keeps the wall flush and is harder to vandalize.
