Bobrick 39003 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the B-39003 be surface mounted instead of recessed?
No. The B-39003 is a recessed unit only, and it needs 7-7/8 inches of wall depth behind the opening. If the wall won't give you that depth, you need a surface-mounted or semi-recessed towel dispenser and waste combination instead, not this one.
2) Is the Bobrick B-39003 ADA compliant?
It's listed as ADA compliant. Keep in mind compliance also depends on how you set it: the mounting height has to put the towel dispensing point within reach range for the opening it serves. The unit itself meets the requirement; the installer owns the mounting height.
3) How many towels and how much trash does the Bobrick B-39003 hold?
Towel side holds 600 C-fold, 800 multifold, or 1100 single-fold towels. Waste side takes a removable, leak-proof 12-gallon (45.5-liter) container. For a moderate-traffic restroom that's typically a once-a-day service cycle on the waste can, and the towel capacity means you're not refilling every shift.
4) Do I need a separate trim ring or filler around the B-39003 after the drywall is cut?
No separate trim is needed. The door has a 90 degree return that conceals the flange, so the unit closes out its own opening against the finished wall. Cut the opening to the stated 16 by 54-3/4 inch dimension and the door covers the edge.
5) Is the B-39003 manual or does it need power at the wall?
Manual operation, no electrical rough-in required. Users pull the towel from the dispensing slot. That keeps the wall work to framing the opening and blocking it out, with no circuit or transformer to coordinate.
6) Can the waste container be pulled out for emptying, or does the liner sit loose in the cabinet?
The 12-gallon waste container is removable and leak-proof, so custodial staff lift the whole container out rather than fishing a bag out of a fixed cavity. The leak-proof construction is what keeps liquid from getting behind the unit and into the wall cavity.
7) Does the Bobrick B-39003 lock, and will the lock stick out of the door?
It uses tumbler locks that sit flush with the door with no protrusion. That matters in corridors and school restrooms where a projecting lock cylinder is a snag hazard and a vandalism target.
8) What is TowelMate on the Bobrick B-39003 and does it come installed?
TowelMate is built into the B-39003, not an add-on you order separately. It's the internal towel control feature that keeps the stack from over-dispensing, which is where most of the waste in a high-traffic restroom comes from.
9) What finish does the B-39003 come in, and will it match other Bobrick washroom accessories?
One finish only: satin-finish stainless steel. That's the same standard satin stainless Bobrick uses across its recessed washroom line, so it reads consistently alongside other satin stainless grab bars, mirrors, and dispensers on the same wall.
