Bobrick 43944 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the B-43944 go into a 2x4 stud wall?
No. The B-43944 needs at least 4 inches of clear depth behind the finished wall, and a standard 2x4 stud cavity gives roughly 3-1/2 inches. You would need a 2x6 wall, a furred-out chase, or a masonry recess. For a 2x4 wall, a surface-mounted towel dispenser and waste receptacle is the right direction instead.
2) How many towels and how much trash does the Bobrick B-43944 hold before staff have to service it?
The dispenser holds 600 C-fold or 800 multifold towels, and the waste receptacle is 15 gallons (56.8 L). For a moderate-traffic restroom that is typically a once-a-day service visit. The unit ships with TowelMate, which keeps the towel stack separated so users pull one at a time, and LinerMate, which keeps the liner from being pulled down into the bin.
3) Is the Bobrick B-43944 ADA compliant?
Yes, the B-43944 is listed as ADA compliant. Compliance still depends on how you set the mounting height so the towel dispensing point falls within reach range for your occupancy, so coordinate the recess elevation with the accessible fixture layout.
4) Will the B-43944 match the other Bobrick accessories already in our restrooms?
It is part of the Bobrick ConturaSeries, and the radiused corners and edges on the flange, door and waste receptacle are made to complement the rest of that series. Finish is satin stainless steel, which is the same look used across Bobrick's standard washroom line, so it reads consistently alongside recessed ConturaSeries napkin, seat cover and soap units.
5) Is the waste compartment on the B-43944 locked, and how do you empty it?
The door uses a flush tumbler lock, so the bin and towel stock are secure against tampering in a public restroom. Emptying is done through the locked door, and the front panel is removable for cleaning the inside of the receptacle.
6) We have older Bobrick units on the wall. Can we add TowelMate and LinerMate to those instead of replacing them?
Yes. Bobrick sells retrofit TowelMate and LinerMate parts for units installed before those features became standard, TowelMate prior to April 2010 and LinerMate prior to December 2009. The B-43944 itself already comes with both fitted, so no add-on is needed on a new unit.
7) Does the B-43944 take roll towel or only folded towel?
Folded towel only. It dispenses C-fold or multifold towels, 600 or 800 sheets respectively, with no roll mechanism. If your building standardizes on hardwound roll towel, this is the wrong unit and you want a roll-towel dispenser instead.
8) Does the B-43944 need power or batteries?
No. Operation is manual, so there is no touchless sensor, no transformer and no batteries to maintain. Nothing to rough in electrically behind the recess.
9) What is the B-43944 made of, and will it hold up in a high-traffic public restroom?
Construction is stainless steel with a satin finish. That handles frequent cleaning and heavy public use better than painted steel or plastic, which is why it is a common spec for schools, airports and stadium restrooms. Follow Bobrick's care guidance and avoid abrasive or chloride-based cleaners on the satin surface.
