Cahaba CA631001 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Cahaba CA631001 Caylin tub filler be used in an apartment building or hotel bathroom?
No. The Caylin freestanding tub faucet is rated for residential use only, so it isn't the right pick for a hotel, dorm, or other commercial occupancy. For multi-family work it can go in an individual unit bathroom, but spec a commercial-rated filler for any shared or public bathing fixture.
2) How tall is the Caylin freestanding tub faucet and will it clear the rim of a standard freestanding tub?
It stands 39-1/16 inches to the top, with a footprint of 11-13/16 inches deep by 6-1/8 inches wide across the body. That height puts the spout above the rim of typical freestanding tubs, but measure your tub's rim height and the spout's horizontal reach against where the floor stub-out lands before you set the rough-in.
3) Does the CA631001 mount on the floor or on the tub deck?
Floor mount. The Caylin is a freestanding filler, so it needs water supplies brought up through the floor next to the tub, not a deck-mounted or wall rough-in. Mounting hardware is supplied with the faucet.
4) Does the Caylin tub filler come with a handshower, or is that bought separately?
The handshower comes in the box, along with a 5 ft (60 inch) hose and the mounting hardware. A lever diverter on the body switches flow between the tub spout and the handshower, so there's nothing else to add for the handshower function.
5) What flow rate does the CA631001 deliver, and will it fill a large soaking tub reasonably fast?
The spout is rated 3.91 GPM and the handshower 1.61 GPM. Just under 4 GPM at the spout is a usable fill rate for a deep freestanding soaker, provided the supply lines feeding it are sized to actually deliver that. Running 1/2 inch supplies with long runs or low static pressure will cut the real-world fill rate.
6) Is the Cahaba Caylin tub faucet brass or plated plastic?
Solid brass body, finished in polished chrome. The valve is a ceramic disc cartridge, which is the drip-resistant type rather than a rubber washer stem. Total assembly weight is 9 lbs.
7) Will the chrome on the Caylin filler match other chrome fixtures already in the bathroom?
The finish is polished chrome, the bright mirror chrome that reads as standard silver trim, so it sits alongside most polished chrome showerheads, trim, and towel bars without looking off. It won't match brushed nickel or satin chrome, which are duller and warmer.
8) How many handles control the Caylin freestanding tub faucet?
One lever handle mixes hot and cold, with a separate lever diverter for the handshower. Single-handle operation is the easier one to work with a wet hand or with limited grip strength, versus a two-handle filler where you balance temperature each time.
