Yes. The CM-160/170/180 key switches come on three mounting plate sizes: mini, narrow stile, and single gang. The narrow stile plate is the one for aluminum storefront framing; single gang goes into a standard electrical box, and mini suits tight spots on the operator cabinet or frame face. All three carry the same 1-3/8 inch depth behind the plate, so the switch body projection is identical regardless of plate.

It gives you three latched states you turn the key to and leave: Auto puts the operator in normal automatic mode, Off shuts the automatic function down so the door behaves as a manual door, and Hold Open keeps the door standing open. Maintained means the contact stays in the position you left it, unlike a momentary switch that only sends a pulse while the key is turned. That is what you want when a building manager needs the entrance held open for a delivery or locked out of auto mode after hours.

The contacts are rated 4 amps at 28 VDC, which covers a dry contact activation input on a low voltage automatic operator directly. It is a dry contact switch, not a powered device. Anything drawing more than 4 amps or running on line voltage needs a relay between the switch and the load.

Switch life is 10,000 cycles, so this is built for occasional mode changes, not for every user entering the building. Use it the way it is intended: staff turning an entrance to auto in the morning, off at night, or holding it open. If every person coming through needs to trigger the door, that traffic belongs on a push plate, a motion sensor, or a credential reader, and the key switch stays as the mode control.

Hard wired. The CM series key switches have no wireless communication; they run as a wired switch back to the operator or access control input. Plan a wire run from the switch location to the operator cabinet.

Take the 3 position maintained switch when the door needs a hold open state on top of on and off, which is the usual ask for a main entrance handling deliveries or events. A 2 position switch only toggles between two states. Momentary versions send a pulse while the key is turned and drop back, which suits triggering a door opening; maintained versions latch in place, which is what mode control needs.

These are commercial door hardware switches specified for mounting on the door operator cabinet or the door frame. Nothing in the CM-160/170/180 spec establishes an outdoor or weather rating, so treat them as interior or protected-location mounting. For an exposed exterior post or wall, specify a switch that carries a weather rating.
