CV-603 Series is an app-based wireless Bluetooth managed access control system designed to provide maximum flexibility in small door and gate applications and comes ready to support each system user with the card security FOB, or smartphone credential they want. Camden Door Controls CV-603 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Camden CV-603 controller work with my existing HID Prox or MIFARE readers?
Any reader that outputs Wiegand 26, 30, 34 or 37 bit wires directly to the CV-603. That covers readers using HID Prox, HID iClass, MiFare and DESFire credential encryption, and the controller reads both low frequency and clone resistant high frequency credentials. It has two reader inputs, one per door, so a two-reader in-only setup or one in/out door both wire up.
2) Can the Camden CV-603 release a fail-safe maglock as well as a fail-secure strike?
Both. The CV-603's two lock outputs are Form C relays, so you land the wiring on normally-closed for a fail-safe device like a maglock and normally-open for a fail-secure electric strike. Watch the contact rating: 1A at 12V AC/DC, so a lock drawing more than that needs to be switched through a separate relay rather than off the board.
3) Does the Camden CV-603 two door controller come with a power supply?
Not by itself. The CV-603 is the bare controller and runs on 12 VDC that you supply. If you want it prewired, Camden's CV-603PS is a cabinet with the MProx-BLE controller, a 12 VDC 1.5 amp power supply and a 16 VAC 40 VA transformer, though that version has no battery back-up, so a site that needs to ride through a power loss still needs standby battery capacity from elsewhere.
4) Can I open a gate with a remote key fob on the Camden CV-603, or do I need a separate receiver?
No separate receiver needed. A 433 MHz receiver is built into the CV-603 and works with CX-TXM-2 two button transmitters, with encrypted rolling code and AES128 protected transmission. Pair that with the sensor input, which accepts a vehicle loop detector as well as a door position switch, and the controller runs a parking gate without adding hardware.
5) What is the CV-603VR10 virtual remote license key for?
It is the license that turns on smartphone credentials on a CV-603 MProx-BLE system. The controller has the Bluetooth mobile credential capability built in, and the virtual remote license keys are what you add to issue those credentials to users instead of, or alongside, cards and fobs. If everyone on the system is carrying a card or a key fob, you do not need it.
6) How many doors and how many users will a Camden CV-603 handle?
Two doors and 2,000 users. Each door gets a reader input, a door position switch or sensor input, a REX input and a lock output. That size suits a small building, a tenant suite, an amenity room or a gated lot rather than a campus, and there is no head-end server to run since administration happens in the phone app.
7) Will the Camden CV-603 fit in my existing enclosure, and can it go on DIN rail?
The CV-603 board measures 4-1/2 x 3-1/2 x 1-3/4 inches (115 x 90 x 44 mm) and mounts on DIN rail, so it drops into a panel alongside power supplies and relays without a proprietary can. If you would rather buy it housed, the CV-603PS ships in a cabinet with the power supply already in it.
8) Can the Camden CV-603 be installed in an unheated parking garage or an exterior gate cabinet?
Its rated operating range is -4F to 131F (-20C to +55C), which covers an unheated garage, a vestibule or a weather-protected gate cabinet in most North American climates. The board still needs to be out of the weather, in a NEMA-rated or indoor enclosure, since the rating is temperature only.
9) How do you program a Camden CV-603 access control system, and is there software to install?
Everything is done from a Bluetooth phone app on Apple or Android, right at the panel. No PC software, no server, no network drop. From the app you set up the system, add and remove users, download the audit trail and back up the data, and assign operators across five configurable security levels. Anti-pass back is available if you need to stop credential sharing at a gate.
10) How long can I hold a door unlocked with the CV-603, and can I latch it open for business hours?
Relay outputs run timed from 1 to 180 seconds, momentary, or bi-stable latch. The latch mode is what you use to hold an entrance unlocked for a shift and re-secure it later. There is also a common alarm relay on the board for triggering a remote device such as a sounder or a signal to another panel.
