Metallics SWL612 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics SWL612 ceiling wire and what is it used for?
The SWL612 is a 6 foot pre-tied ceiling support wire with a single loop on one end. It is the hanger wire used to suspend ceiling grid, boxes, conduit and similar overhead work from the structure above. The loop is already tied at the factory, so the installer only ties off at one end instead of two.
2) What does the pre-tied single loop on the SWL612 actually save me on install?
One end arrives with the loop already formed and tied, so the crew hangs the loop on a hook, clip or threaded rod and then only makes one field tie at the grid or hanger. On a large ceiling that is one less wrap per drop across hundreds of wires.
3) Does the Metallics SWL612 ceiling wire come with hooks or fasteners?
No. The SWL612 pack is wire only, 100 pre-tied 6 foot pieces on a reel. Whatever attaches the looped end to the structure, such as a ceiling clip, powder driven anchor or eye lag, is ordered separately.
