1) What conduit size does the Thomas & Betts BLRL-3 conduit body take, and what kind of conduit?
The BLRL-3 is a 1 inch trade size conduit body for use with EMT. It is not a threaded rigid fitting, so if you are running rigid or IMC you need a threaded body instead.
2) Does the BLRL-3 come with a cover, or do I have to order one separately?
It ships with a die cast aluminum cover already, and the cover screws are retained stainless steel so they won't fall out of the cover in an overhead install. If you ever need the cover on its own, the die cast version is CV-3 and the stamped aluminum version is SCV-3.
3) Is a gasket included with the BLRL-3, and which gasket fits it?
The BLRL-3 is listed as shipping with a cover only, so plan on adding a gasket if the location calls for one. Two fit the -3 size body: GKV-3 in composition and GKN-3 in neoprene. Neoprene is the usual pick where you want a resilient weather seal under the cover.
4) How many conductors can I legally put through a 1 inch BLRL conduit body?
Its wiring chamber is 11.8 cubic inches, which is the number you use for box fill when you are making splices inside the body. Count the conductors against that volume the same way you would for a box; if you are only pulling through with no splices, box fill does not apply.
5) What are the dimensions of the Thomas & Betts BLRL-3 conduit body for clearance in a tight chase?
Published dimensions are A 5-3/8, B 4-7/8, C 5-5/16, D 1-3/4, E 1-7/8, F 4-7/8, G 2-1/2 and H 1 inch. Map those to the manufacturer's dimension letters when you are checking clearance behind equipment or against a wall, since an LR pulls off to the side of the run rather than straight back.
6) Is the BLRL-3 conduit body UL listed and RoHS compliant?
UL is the certification listed for it, and it is RoHS compliant. That covers the two boxes most institutional and government spec sheets ask about on a fitting like this.
7) Will the BLRL-3 chew up wire insulation when I pull through it?
