Delta Breez GBR80LED – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will an 80 CFM bath fan be enough for my bathroom?
The GBR80LED is a single speed 80 CFM fan sized for spaces up to 80 square feet. A typical 5x8 or 8x10 bathroom falls inside that. For larger master baths, or rooms with a separately enclosed toilet or steam shower, plan on a higher CFM unit or a second fan.
2) Does the Delta Breez GBR80LED come with a dimmer switch?
No. The 13 watt dimmable LED module is included in the fan, but the dimmer switch itself is not. You'll need to supply a compatible LED dimmer separately if you want the light to dim; wired to a standard switch it simply runs at full output.
3) How much ceiling cavity space do I need for the GBR80LED housing?
The housing measures 8-1/4 x 8 x 5-3/4 inches, so you need at least 5-3/4 inches of depth in the joist bay plus room for the 4 inch duct elbow off the side. With 2x8 joists you're fine; 2x6 framing will not take it.
4) Is the Delta Breez GBR80LED quiet enough for a hotel or apartment bathroom?
At 0.1 inch static pressure it runs 0.8 sones, which is near the bottom of what bath fans achieve and quieter than the 1.0 sone threshold most quiet-fan specs call for. Push the ductwork harder and it rises, with the rated range running 0.8 to 1.5 sones across 0.1 to 0.25 inch static pressure. Keeping the duct run short and straight keeps it at the low end.
5) Does the GBR80LED bath fan light meet California Title 24 requirements?
Yes. The LED puts out 850 lumens at 3000K with a 90 CRI, which Delta states meets CEC JA8 Title 24 requirements. The fan itself is ENERGY STAR qualified.
6) Can the Delta Breez GBR80LED run continuously for whole-house or code-required continuous ventilation?
Yes. The DC brushless motor is engineered for a minimum 70,000 hours of continuous run time, and the fan draws 11 watts at 0.1 inch static pressure for 7.2 CFM per watt. It also self-compensates motor speed to hold the intended airflow when static pressure builds in the duct, which is what makes continuous duty practical on a long run.
7) Does the GBR80LED have a humidity sensor or motion sensor?
No. The GBR80LED is a single speed fan with a dimmable LED light and an LED indicator running light that tells you the fan is on. There is no built-in humidity or occupancy sensing, so control comes from your wall switch, timer, or external humidistat. It does include motor lock protection.
8) Why choose a DC brushless bath fan over a standard AC bath fan?
The brushless DC motor in the GBR80LED is rated to outlast typical AC motors by 2-1/2 times, with a 70,000 hour minimum run life, and it holds airflow when duct static pressure climbs instead of simply moving less air. For a property manager replacing fans across a building, that is fewer ceiling call-backs. A standard AC fan is simpler and fine for a low-use half bath that runs a few minutes a day.
