1) Is the DSBTL finial sold as a pair or individually?
Each finial is sold individually. A hinge takes two tips (top and bottom of the pin), so order two per hinge, or four per door if you are dressing a pair of hinges.
2) What finishes does the Deltana DSBTL ball tip come in so I can match my existing hinges?
Nine finishes: PVD Polished Brass, Polished Brass, Unlacquered Brass, Antique Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Brushed Nickel, Antique Nickel, Polished Chrome and Brushed Chrome. Order the same finish code as the hinge body. Unlacquered brass will darken over time, and PVD polished brass holds its shine longer than standard lacquered polished brass.
3) Can I swap a flat button tip for a ball tip on my existing Deltana 6 inch hinges without pulling the door?
Yes, as long as the hinge is a Deltana 6 inch solid brass hinge with the 10 x 1mm threaded pin. The tips unscrew from the pin ends, so you change the look without removing the pin or taking the door down. Note the DSBTL is for standard removable-pin hinges, not a non-removable-pin (NRP) setup.
4) What thread does the Deltana DSBTL hinge finial use?
It threads on 10 x 1mm. That is the metric thread on the Deltana DSB6 Series 6 inch solid brass hinge pins, so the tip screws directly onto the top and bottom of the pin with no adapter.
5) How big is the Deltana DSBTL ball tip once it is installed?
The ball stands 3/4 inch tall and is 5/8 inch in diameter. That adds about 3/4 inch above the top of the hinge barrel, which matters if your door has tight head clearance or a casing that runs close to the hinge.
6) Is the Deltana DSBTL finial solid brass or plated pot metal?
Solid brass through the body, with the finish applied over it. That matters on a high-traffic opening where a plated zinc tip would chip at the edges; the brass takes the knocks and can be polished.
