The 74020 is a replacement closer spindle for Dormakaba BTS series floor closers. The spindle is the vertical shaft that comes up out of the closer body and transfers the door's swing into the closer mechanism. It's a service part, so you buy it when the original spindle is worn, damaged, or the wrong height for the installed condition, not as part of a complete closer.
2) Do I need to pull the floor closer out of the cement case to change the spindle on a BTS?
On BTS floor closers the spindle sits at the top of the closer body under the cover plate, so the door has to come off the closer to get at it. Practically that means unloading and lifting the door off the spindle, lifting the cover plate, and swapping the shaft. Since the 74020 is a service part and not a complete closer, you're keeping the existing body and cement case in the floor, so no concrete work is involved.
3) Does the Dorma 74020 come with a top pivot or door hardware to complete the job?
The 74020 is the spindle alone, ordered as a single model with no options to select. Anything else the opening needs, top center pivot, top and bottom door patch fittings for a glass door, or the closer cover plate, is ordered separately.
